The key is finding one where you don't overpay...see JvR for Luke Schenn

there is too much talent on this team for me to think to pull the plug entirely. but something does have to give. hartnell is bad out there, and his deal makes it laughable. but that doesnt to me necessitate needing to move someone like grossman
- stayinthefnnet

I really like Hartnell's personality, but ya I want him traded... like yesterday. He hasn't scored a point in 9 games, has 11 points in his last 38 games played, and hasn't scored an assist in 33 games. I don't know how much value he has left, but I'd rather see a guy like Read or McGinn in the top 6 than Hartnell.

Methinks Vinny needs to stay on G's wing right now. He's done superb there so far

No. Let the young guys play and figure out how to get better. Gagne does not magically make this a playoff team. Time for the Flyers to be patient, let their players grow and accumulate some real high end talent through the draft and high picks.

This is why I love hockeybuzz. There are more douchebags in here then on twitter. Instead of being an bumhole, which you clearly were being, you could have responded to my post which I know you understood. But since you'd rather make things difficult, I'll spell it out for you. Homer should not be allowed to make a panic move for a guy like Buff. Because he will likely overpay trying to save his job. The only moves Homer should be allowed to make right now should be ones that rid the team of long-term expensive contracts for picks and younger inexpensive players. Teams will buy a guy like Hartnell or Coburn or Timonen at the deadline. It's a good way to gain control of their cap again and restart with some strong busing blocks in place already.
- Flyers1218

While I do agree we need to dump contracts like Hartnell's, I don't think we should tear up the team. And while his comment was (maybe) uneccessary(ish?), he's not a douche for pointing out a major hole/miswording in your argument.

Or just pick up a piece or two more using picks and prospects and apply patience since it's (at least to me) obvious that we're right on the brink of being a consistently winning team. We show it for a period or two, but if we can extend it to a 60 minute effort, we'll be golden.
- JAKEw1234

Bad teams say exactly that. Read Bill's blog from a few weeks ago. Bad teams don't play consistently and bad teams find ways to lose. This team is closer to a lottery team then a playoff team. I can live with that for a few years if they do the rebuild right.

Major hole? Do not let Paul Holmgren go out and make a trade for a guy like Buff and jeopardize this teams future. The only moves he should be allowed to make is to get rid of long term contracts. It's fairly clear that's what I meant. And outside of the traditional meaning of douche, his sarcastic response when he knew exactly what I meant was him being a douche. But I'm glad your always here to be a police officer.

Jeez dude calm down. If that's what you meant than say it the first time. I'm the douche? I'm pretty sure OB just laid down the law for personal insults. Hope calling me a douche was worth it.

Ducks didn't press the Flyers D in the first.
The team had a real good first 20 because they were moving it out of the zone. Coburn and Grossmann had a fantastic first period.

When teams forecheck the Flyers hard, the Flyers get stuck, turn it over, and have mad scrambles in their D zone.

Nothing new here, but Coburn and Grossmann are being used as the top pairing.
They can't possibly play 60 minutes without some let down against good teams and their top lines.

The D needs to be rebuilt.

The forwards, if the two young centers can grow into their roles, should be fine.
B Schenn came up small tonight. It is going to take time with him and Couts.

Giroux is either overthinking it, lacking confidence or some combination. He made a real good pass, but his decision making with the puck as the game wore on was pretty bad.

Worth what, posting on hockeybuzz?? If I'm banned I'm banned. I very rarely come here anyway. The favoritism towards specific posters, double standards, and complaining about personal insults is pathetic. I felt you were trying to be jerk and I called you out. This is the problem though, come back at me if you don't like it. Don't report me and wait for someone else to fix your problem. Whatever. It's not worth it in here.

as an opposing fan, i hate him, but if he is the type of guy you love if he is on your team. that being said, his skill set has eroded and likely isnt the kind that will be rediscovered. that contract will be an albatross. if a GM trades for it he should have his head examined

I have no control over what paul holmgren does.
And jesus christ man chill your poop. You always come in here with a stick up your ass to preach about how the team is bad. Maybe he is a sarcastic douche but instead of getting all up in a huff about his sarcastic douche comments, try to take it more lightly. Maybe even make a sarcastic comment back, just lighten up. You take things alittle too seriously, which is why you tend to end up in a fight whenever I see you post here.

while im glad to see him fall back to earth a little bit, i have a hard time believing he stays consistently this bad. he is certainly in a mental funk. he went from chucking up crappy attempts from wherever early in the season, to now being petrified to shoot. however, that saucer pass to vinny was perfect. i think he just needs to relax and let his instincts take over. having vinny on his line will help him a ton i think.

haha! i still say youll have a hell of a time moving him. but i do agree with you. the team doesnt need to be totally dismantled. it will however be rough to move the dead weight.i know its been beaten to death, but when you have one of the highest paid d corps, and its repeatedly said that the defense needs to be overhauled, there is a major disconnect somewhere

I'm sure G will bounce back. He played a pretty complete game against the Isles, really some nice back checks and D work. Offensively he is pressing right now.

Whereas Crosby just keeps getting better.
If he stays healthy his point totals will by unbelievable.

I guess the question for you guys is do you believe MAF has the mental thing in the playoffs figured out? That would be my biggest concern.

health will always be the issue for crosby. if he is healthy, he realistically will be on pace for seasons in the 140s for points.

and that is definitely the concern. he looks awesome right now, but unfortunately there is no way of finding out until may.
