Man...I want them to. I want to believe they can.

But that defense...against good teams...hell, the Islanders were grinding them, too, on the second night of a back to back.

But we all know that we can't just get an upgrade on defense. It's so frustrating. It would really help this team, so much.

The fourth line...that's on the coach and the GM. That's totally on them.

But we all know they want another defenseman...I just don't know anymore where the hell you even get one.

hence all of the discussion about Buf

Good old Nodl Syndrome. Raffl is a decent player, but belongs on a fourth line.

Perfect example is that feed from Giroux where he shoots it over the top of the net. Cant turn a mule into a mustang. Not to say this game is on Raffl by any means, but too many "secondary" players on this team with poor puck skills, without even looking at the defense.

- flyer_nutter

He scores there, the game is over.

what the hell happened? i left the house after the first period. you guys were playing like a team possessed. i know the ducks are a tough team to keep down, but 3 unanswered? i wouldve felt the flyers had another 5 spot in them tonight with the way they dominated possession from what i saw
- stayinthefnnet

I don't want to talk about it

Well, yeah...that's the other option. They could swing a deal for outside help, for sure.

There has to be a hockey trade out there to help this team.

i do see the value in an effective fourth line, but in a cap league its hard for most teams to trot out a good fourth line. inevitable injuries only force guys to move up and strain depth even more.
- stayinthefnnet

I understand what you just said, but man, the Ducks aren't a cap team and they just worked us with two $8 million players in their lineup and six guys injured.

I truly believe that there's a better fourth-line out there for us than Rosehill-Talbot-Rinaldo. I don't see how there couldn't be -- it's impossible for there not to be.

Dallas seems like a good trading partner.

Somebody out there has a player that can help us. JSaq's right -- we don't have to overpay, but Good Lord. Somebody has a player out there.

well maybe im still a little overly partial towards him, but i think a healthy talbot can be a great fourth line player. rosehill is pretty irrelevant. and i may be overly biased against rinaldo but i dont think he deserves to be given a stick.

I do NOT want this team to make a move. Homer will make a desperate, job saving deal, that could really screw us. If anything this team needs to be looking into dealing veterans at the deadline for picks and young inexpensive players. Hartnell, Timonen, Coburn, Hall, Grossmann, Streit (yeah right), Meszaros should all be made available. Free up a ton of cap space, acquire picks, and get a top 3 pick.

This early youve gotta look at the other struggling teams to get a fair deal. I'm sure the new GM in Dallas would like to make a few tweaks. Trading with the West seems easier to get fair value as well.

Or just pick up a piece or two more using picks and prospects and apply patience since it's (at least to me) obvious that we're right on the brink of being a consistently winning team. We show it for a period or two, but if we can extend it to a 60 minute effort, we'll be golden.

just look at the teams that are struggling...EDM, WSH, WPG...a small deal to round out the lineup may be out there...one for a dman, i don't think so.

pretty soft 3rd line for me, but i get your drift
- isaiah520[/quote

Stay put on lines. If things stagnate then go with Raffl on the 3rd line, he's played that good.

there is too much talent on this team for me to think to pull the plug entirely. but something does have to give. hartnell is bad out there, and his deal makes it laughable. but that doesnt to me necessitate needing to move someone like grossman

Talbot's good. Rinaldo's fine. He skates pretty well and has decent speed. So long as he isn't taking dumb penalties, he's fine. And he lays a lot of hits. And we should have McGinn up instead of Rosehill, no doubt.

assets that would be required to fetch him, would likely be too much for what gogo has to offer. sucks in his own zone.

This is why I love hockeybuzz. There are more douchebags in here then on twitter. Instead of being an bumhole, which you clearly were being, you could have responded to my post which I know you understood. But since you'd rather make things difficult, I'll spell it out for you. Homer should not be allowed to make a panic move for a guy like Buff. Because he will likely overpay trying to save his job. The only moves Homer should be allowed to make right now should be ones that rid the team of long-term expensive contracts for picks and younger inexpensive players. Teams will buy a guy like Hartnell or Coburn or Timonen at the deadline. It's a good way to gain control of their cap again and restart with some strong busing blocks in place already.
