Maybe we should rename this board the Rush the Hawk prospects fan board.

You noticed the guys who are around all served apprenticeships in Rockford save for Mills who is a semi-experienced role player with NHL games under his belt.

This is the time for Pirri, Smith, Morin to play and make mistakes.

They get to to adjust and their long term future depends much on their later performances.

Can you all please leave Tuevo Teravainen alone?
(You noticed he hasn't wrested away the first line centte's job on Jokerit, wanna let him do that before you have him getting knocked around by bigger & quicker NHL guys than the ones in Finland? Please?

Can big body Mark McNeill jut adjust to playing pro hockey in the "A" first before you decide he is not any good, is great or is a flop?

Can Philip Danault grow bigger and stronger and also get accustomed to a pro game where everone is faster and skilled?

Can Adam Clendening and every Hawk defender be seen in 50 two on ones attempts where they eventually are instinctive in defense, before we attempt graduations to the NHL?

I haven't been around much of late - the junior seasons are in full swing, and I wanted to make sure I had at very least 209 draft eligibles in the Draftsite database, and am also working on their profiles, a big task because it isn't the greatest graduating class and it is difficult to watch and assess because oh so many are not close to finished projects, very similar to the Rockford group.

Although a game here or there may seem like a good idea, I think it is best to let all future players (whether in Rockford or junior) simply play to their strengths at their present levels, and the true possibles eventually rise to the top of their persective teams….

Hi Wiz,

You bring up many good points here. I think many get caught up in the wins and losses and tend to forget the big picture. That is what do we have with these players/prospects and how will they perform in the big show. There is an equal concern that in doing that the performance of the team suffers. I'm not sure how that gets reconciled but I am sure that Q would like to find out sooner rather than later and that means different combinations and line juggling. It is hard to watch at times but it is needed because if this group can't cut it SB has to take a different tack.

That is the most common sense post I have read here regarding prospective call ups. Thanks.

Hey US. A few more details have come to light in the Vanek-Moulson trade. The Sabres will eat a portion of Vanek's salary and the Isles will have the right to defer the first round pick from 2014 to 2015, if Vanek doesn't re-sign. Sounds a little better for the Isles.

This may sound crazy but it's not a bad thing Bulin is playing tonight....aside from the fact it's a back to back the Hawks need to know what they have with their back up goalie....

I expect him to play a little more in the coming weeks and a decision will be made on whether or not he is here for the long term this season by the 1st of the year.

Would the Hawks just cut bait and bury him in Rockford if he stinks it up and call up Raanta? How do you see it unfolding?

Khabby is the b/u and will play in 20-25 games. If he's a complete flop we'll likely see a change eventually...perhaps December?

He's on the roster and will be given the opportunity to find his game. Let's all hope he finds it.

The reason I ask is because of the politics involved with a veteran and a rookie.

Let's hope he finds his game.....hopefully he will be a serviceable back up. It's hard for a veteran at his age to get into rhythm so I expect him play at least once a week from here on out. We were all a little hard on him last week considering it was his second game and long breaks between games....considering their bad defense he was pretty solid with Edmonton last year...nothing to drool over but nevertheless pretty decent. As far as sticking him in Rockford, I don't know how that work with the cap...I think his salary will still be a cap hit of 2 million.

I don't know about the politics...the Hawks decided Niemi was the better option in 2010 when Huet crapped the bed....

Teams can't bury contracts any longer. At least not without penalty. So if the Hawks were to "bury" Khabby in Rockford, $775,000 would still be tolled against the cap. Then, the Hawks would have to recall Raanta, which with his cap number I don't think it would fit under the cap.
