two small forwards wont work, yes they play bigger game but honestly the Kings were pushing Arco around easy,I think it will be a mistake having those two playing together as the Second line.
- AlEx_OiL

and same can be said having them on the 4th line. Gagner is not a 4th liner and Arco is too small for that role. Gagner is only 1 inch shorter and 2 pounds lighter than Lander.

You're right, I was just pointing out that Gagner being better than Arcobello isn't as cut and dry as one might think.
- Reveen

Arco is doing a lot of things well out there. Hard to believe Gagner is actually younger than him. I'm a big Gagner fan though, as you will come to realize.

We brought up Liles just to showcase him for the Oil and Flames!

I'm thinking Liles for Linus

Or

Liles for Sven

Both fair deals.....

(frank) that.... Linus scored 4 goals the other night... He is worth more than your cap dump...

So will we be failing hard for reinhart or playing bad for Ekblad?

Well to date we are doing both...

I was just checking capgeek, and there isn't much of a d-crop for FA's this summer. Orpik looks to be the best (who I would take in a heartbeat, mind you). I think there will be some good goalies that won't re-sign.

So, focus on the d for now, upgrade the net in the off season.

On the bright side, November's schedule looks a fair deal easier! With our goaltending finally leveling off, the return of a number of roster players, the law of averages taking effect, and the "new system struggles" hopefully being out the window, there IS reason for optimism.

It's up to the Oil to deliver on said optimism.

I can't believe we haven't played CGY yet. Just seems off.

Yeah, but I guess it's a good thing. We've been fortunate to have as few divisional games as we have early on while the team is struggling! If there's one redeeming quality to this stretch of losses, it's that.

I realize he had a great game last night, but I'm not sure he can do it again. You know tomorrow's game will be another wide-open affair, and the Leafs have plenty of dangerous shooters. Never heard of the opposing goalie = I like our chances.

Word. Yeah, he played really well and I like his style overall but he's now in front of the home crowd and it could be tough mentally as things settle in here for him. Not to mention what you've said here about the open-game and the confidence of the Leafs right now. Tough for him to repeat but hey he did face like 48 shots and the only one that beat he honestly didn't know where the puck was.

I really hope he plays just to see if he can bring the same game.
