I thought Montreal played a relatively good game satuday night, even if they didn't score. The 3rd period was tough, though.

Maybe Vanek scores even more with JT as his center? Vanek also scores a lot more 5 on 5 than Moulson, and the Isles already have the 2nd best PP. It shouldn't get worse with Vanek.

And I don't think they're in a position where trading a 1st round pick is putting them over the top and a serious contender.

Yeah, ok, Vanek isn't currently surrounded by an all-star cast...but he's played with decent players before and his production doesn't improve or suffer that dramatically...and it's not that big of an upgrade production wise from Moulson.

I get that Vanek is the better player...but to me, they paid a lot to address and issue that isn't really a problem at this point.
