He signed a huge offer sheet. I don't blame him for doing that I would have too. I don't blame him for wanting to move on and not be a part of the rebuild either. We got assets for him and for that i am happy.

The Oilers held this organization hostage not Vanek. What 23 year old would turn down 50 million?? He didn't refuse to play RW just wasn't fond of the idea. Honestly who would be he has played the left side his entire career. Its not an easy switch

I still say we should have gotten a number 1 center, Connolly, Roy, Hodgson all are not number 1 centers. Just my opinion.

Vanek was my favorite player up until 3 years ago. His incredibly hot streaks that turned into incredibly lazy and unable to play "banged up" streaks wore on me. Yes he would have benefitted from having a great center, so does every winger. Bottom line is he was a top 10 pay check that played like a top 10 player half of the time

Does everyone think Miller could get a similar package that Vanek got? Could we see a scenario whereas we get a player and 2 picks for Miller or is that too much?

A team needs to have a contract for one year for the player to be considered their own player.

He'll be 37 after a 7yr deal. Not much difference between 37 and 38 IMO.

If you got offered a crap contract which they did it was a 2 year 5 million offer I believe was reports I wouldn't sign either. He only played left in Minnesota. It is not easy to switch sides. You have to set up your shot differently. Your one timer isn't the same and why ask your only pure goal scorer to play a position he isn't comfortable playing?
