No one is stupid enough to suggest waiving him when there is no one to replace him. You and about 3 other people are the only ones saying this. Dubey has played well as of late and hasn't been the reason we are losing.
- Lahey

Waiving him would be the dumbest thing management could do. Teams ard already laughing at us, now we are going to waive our starting goalie 14 gMes into the season once he starfs playing better for (frank) sakss.

I want something out of Buffalo as they are DTT, but I don't want Myers at this point. And how long until Erhoff's contract is deemed horrid? He isn't exactly doing that well. Then again he is a plus on a horrid team playing a lot of minutes.
- Lahey

Can we get Steve Ott? There's a tough SOB.

Just have to add.... WE HAD A GOALIE LAST NIGHT!!!!!!!!!! Bachman was the man!! YAK scored... the game should not have even been close as we got pushed back and down all game by a more physical team... but the game had a good pace- lots of effort by our team and grit - hell even Nultz threw his weight... * we really needed someone to take care of Clifford post the Nuge hit
- saskoil21

I don't know what Shultz you are talking about, but it applies to both I guess. They both need to be better. I thought N.Schultz threw his weight around a bit and young Schultz made some smart plays in our end late.

47+ shots against the Oilers last night. Bachman did a great job only letting 1 goal in during regulation.

Perhaps the large amount of shots against could be a factor of us giving up goals. Wait, that makes sense and contains logic. Ignore what I just said.

Great to get myers if you get him dirt cheap.

I know, thinking about what would happen if EDM "significantly" overpaid for him. Convince St. Louis that the time is now (Hemsky, Gagner, Eberle, J Schultz, whoever they want other than Hall and Nuge)...and try to pry him out of there. This season will be tough to salvage and maybe it's time to sell the farm so to speak and secure the goalie that we can imagine holding a cup. It's not Dubnyk...not even at his best it's not Dubnyk.
- JLO961

St Louis has no cap space. They would need to shed salary. Even if we "overpaid" for Allen it wouldn't come close to making sense.

We probably could. Would be a good fit, but at what cost? I have to think it's a 1st+ at this point. Seems steep. You have to make the call though.

We have enough scoring and forwards.
We need a bigger tougher D. Smid isn't cutting it. Ference isn't cutting it. Schultz and Petry are great with the puck but need better partners to clear the front of the net.If we make any trades it should be for D. Not like the Islanders ignoring their D and goaltending when its by far their issue.

Edit: they give up a 1st and a 2nd for a marginal upgrade on one player and said player is ufa. Terrible asset management IMO.

Ehrhoff is intriguing if they were looking to ditch him. so long as we moved Schultz or Smid out this year we could take that contract on frankly.

Also quite interested in Ott. Now that they've traded Vanek, could we send Hemmer their way?

I just don't see it. Maybe things have changed, but they always seem to talk about wanting a lot for him.

Unless ownership is making them slash costs, they might as well see if he can reboud at some point.

Exactly why we wont see a trade. Sabers are not hurting for money so they can ride it out for a few years.

Perhap's this years first and we toss in two contracts? just to open up some more room?

Perhaps, Hemsky, 2014 1st, Omark/C.Hamilton/Acton/etc, Smid for Ott, Myers, 2014 3rd?

I dunno, I'm just thinking Smid = Ott for toughness, Hemsky would have good connection with Moulson/also replaces Vanek, we ditch off a prospect for the fact we are getting back Myers' salary.

Maybe if you pair him with a bad contract they get to get rid of (taking on Myers or Ehrhoff for the next 5+ years could be considered a mitzvah). In that instance a package deal may just need to include a prospect instead of a 1st.

You could, but I don't think they are talking Hemsky as a trade piece they want. Would be them taking him to make a deal go through and to me I don't think you get fair value for Hemsky. You'd still have to give the picks and prospects.

Oh god. I just looked at the Oiler's stats on nhl.com.
We are average for Shots Against/Game, but everything else, we are at the bottom in. We are at 10th for faceoff % though! Thank you Gordon and Arcobello!

Now that I think about it, they've already paid our 22 out of the 40 million on Ehrhoff's contract, so really it's not that bad a deal for them (assuming he retires sometime under the next 7 years).

On the other hand, a team going into a rebuild committing so much money to Myers and Ehrhoff may want to use this juncture to start anew.

I was thinking Hemmer + pick(s) + prospect(s) <--> Ott + Ehrhoff

How long until we should trade Yak for some 2nd liners, ignoring that our offense hasn't been the problem?
- Lahey

I believe our scoring has not been the primary problem- its system play, goaltending, defense and of course special teams (which played very good last night) IMO... but your right we do need to trade for some guys with size- I want Mackintyre to take care of Willie Mitchell right now he and Greene were rather dirty last night...

Well for Myers they're asking for a better roster player than Hemsky I'd bet.

Gagner at the least + picks and prospects

Nick... he played with some grit last night- the clifford hit was awesome... as for Jultz- lots of plays ended off his stick too last night... if he could play even better defense it would be great...
