I still am not sold they need a massive talent infusion. They need guys to perform to past levels, and they really could use more puck moving & mobility on the blue line.
- Jsaquella

Well...I can talk myself into believing that, if Schenn/Couturier become 50-ish point players, 20-25 goal scorers with solid two-way play, that we don't need much more than one winger, if that. Hell, Raffl or Petr Straka, somebody like that, might even be that guy.

But when I look at the defense...Morin's years away, as is Hagg and Ghost. Maybe two for Morin, two or three for Hagg, two for Ghost.

I'm not as down on Coburn as some -- though I'd absolutely trade him in an upgrade-deal -- and I like Niklas Grossmann and Mark Streit. Streit's done exactly what I thought he would. I like Gus, too.

But somehow...I just think they need a dynamic defenseman, and none of the players we have, Luke Schenn, etc., are that. Collectively, they're not awful -- they play a part in Mason looking as good as he does.

But when I look at the passing in games, in real time...you just wonder what it'd be like if we had another guy who is on another level.

EDIT: As good as kids like Dal Colle are playing, two, three years ago, it was Couturier & Schenn tearing up those leagues.

- Jsaquella

and what we really need is for those two to develop more than we need Dal Colle in the draft.

We're getting Buf. It's done as soon as we're ready to trade Couturier for him.

I'd like him to be long gone when the Flyers pick in the late 20's or early 30's
- Jsaquella

I always prefer to have a late round pick, we all know what it would mean. Still impressed with the possible top 10 in the 2014 draft.

Cooter would've been expendable had the Flyers split this past weekend I would think.

Damn. That is just...man, that is freaking expensive.

I just don't know if they should do that. I don't want to sell low, and I want to win, and I want this team to be better. I don't know how to satisfy all of that.

Damn it. I just don't know.

There's no question that the Flyers need a quality 2 way puck moving defenseman. I just pray they don't trade B Schenn or Couturier for Byfuglien. I'd be pissed at that. Flyers have one defensive defenseman too many in my opinion.

I doubt it. If Couturier became expendable, I'd join the can Holmgren chorus.

Who has veto rights when a GM (Homer) on the hot seat decides to make a questionable trade for the now at the expense of the future?

Buff(alo) for Coots?

How bout we don't trade for a fat piece of garbage that has conditioning problems.

Berube will eat him for breakfast. Oh the irony.

Yeah. It is. I don't disagree with that. What you just said is accurate.

It's just...they still have flaws, some of which are not going to be corrected by the players on this roster. How many flaws? Well, like us all...I hope that it's not enough to keep us from looking more like we did in 2010 and 2011 -- with us now having (hopefully) a goaltender who is "That Guy."

You say we shouldn't acquire Byfuglien, and we have one too many defensive dmen. I took that as you implying Buf is a defensive dman.

I'd wait and see what other players become available in the future, as well as seeing how fast the Flyers defense prospects develop.

No biggie! I can understand why you might have thought that, how it was worded.
