The @NHLBlackhawks have been shorthanded 31 times through 10 1/3 games & have given up 9 PPGs. That equals a 71% PK - dead last in the NHL.

Yet another game where the announcers are praising the other goalie. This is getting sad. Finish, damn it.

Hawks seem to be getting very frustrated - certainly Kane, but Toews looks a little famished, and (at times) Kane.

Can't play free when your frustration shows.

Explain this to me - Hossa makes a play that 100% of the players make - and he is called for a penalty. There is nothing smart anymore in this game. Make up your own rules, because that is what is happening anyway.

I may be a cynic, but I think eventually the Hawks will get their game together.

I'm just not sure why you even bother to watch the NHL since everyone is corrupt, the officiating is random or rigged, and Bettman is the evil genius manipulating everything just to make you miserable.

No only are the goalies always playing their best against the Hawks, every team is fired-up and focused to be playing the SC champs.

By that reasoning the Hawks will look like crap all year.

LOL. The pathetic thing is that I do. I've put my phone to vibrate... And I think less dominance in the 1st might be a good thing long term, compelling the Hawks to play with more urgency late.

I'm still optimistic about this team, as with the notable exception of the great Marian Hossa, everyone in the core is either at or approaching their prime. I expect Hammer, Leddy, Saad, Krugs, Shaw and, yes, Bicks to only get better.... Even Kane still has major growth potential. He seems to be hustling more, though he'll never be a complete player on both ends, which is OK. DK and Seabs will be DK and Seabs. Sharp will be Sharp. No worries. And of course Toews will be Toews.

But in terms of the depth that was so critical during the run last year, no one has stepped up & replaced the departed, even though they were only role players, and it shows. Plus, the older role players who are holdovers from last year (Rozy & Zeus) are another year older and playing like it.

Khabby, not going to write him off quite yet, mainly for old times sake. But he shows every sign of being an unmitigated disaster.... His inability to react and snag the rebound on the OT gamewinner displayed the reflexes of an old guy who needs to retire.

That's 8 goals against in the last 35 shots.
