U dont trade young, elite norris winners.
They got their bridge contract with him, now theyll pay him

- hugefemale dog77

I wouldn't be inclined to trade a young, elite norris winner but Subban is the only thing the Habs can offer that solves any problems for the Oilers other than Price and I don't see him being moved.

Otherwise it's just more of what the Oilers already have and they won't trade Yakupov for that.

And I'm not 100% convinced the Habs want to pay Subban what he's going to ask for. If you do trade a young, elite norris winner a 1st overall sniper who lit it up in junior with your future #1 C isn't a bad return.

Yak isn't being shipped out
Unless someone offers a major overpayment Mac T would be stupid to turn down. I have to assume Yak is a future 40 goal man when co side ring an offer.

How can you really suggest Yakupov for Subban?

Subban is proven and an award winning d-man and MTL will pay him what the market says he deserves. Yakupov is unproven and has a long way to go before he hits the kind of numbers that would validate a deal like this.

Man, I bet the Oilers don't even value this kid as high as many of you on here do!!

On this website, draft picks, prospects, and young players are all overhyped.

what if the rangers offered Staal and Kreider, since they cant score, would you be tempted to work out that deal

They could get far more of a sure thing than yaks. Like name your star forward...

Yaks scores 35 and mtl doesnt wanna pay subban, then maybe.
But i think both of those are highly unlikey this year.

And why wouldnt they wanna pay him? Hes earned it, the rest of their d is average and hes young, elite and wants to be there.

Yakupov is an unproven talent ... why would any team give the moon to the Oilers for him?

Gally was the true #1 overall in 2012 and proves it with MTL. We don't need him and I would be very surpise to see him in MTL in a trade like this. Next year we have McCaron that will be a lot better and bigger ... so I don't understand why would MTL want this kid that can't play an offensive style game with an offensive minded team ...

I would'nt give a 1st rouder for him let alone, Tinordi, Beaulieu, Gallagher or Fucale for this wash-out.

Anyone remembers Pat Falloon and Ray Whitney when they where playing together in junior ?

Last two seasons :
Falloon had 124 and 138 pts
Whitney had 113 and 185 pts

The Sharks managed to draft both, Falloon 2nd overall (between Lindros and Niedermayer) and Whitney 23rd.

Well, i think Yakupov will end up being like Falloon and disappear after some time trying to play in the NHL, while the more serious Galchenyuk will end up playing 1000 games like Whitney.

I wouldn't give too much for Yakupov.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion. But its just that. Opinion. Certainly not based in fact in anyway.

And whether u like it or not, a first overall that led rooks in both goals and assists has pretty high value

wow. there's some real beauties here on hb.

yaks is unproven, but galchenyuk isnt?

Gally is the true number 1 even though yaks has outscored him in both juniors and their lone season as pros?

Again, we're all entitled to our opinions, but lets not attempt to pass these on as fact to strengthen our contentions.

Lets just take off our homer glasses for a second and wait awhile till we start making definitive statements about kids who have played 60 games in the show

No different than the Nuge and Landy debate. Let them play for a decade and see who was the right choice. Different style players, its a position of need not a debate of skill in my opinion

Ok yeah Detroit should be trading Datsyuk Zetterberg+ to get a 10%bust 1rst ov?
- Prusthemust

So 58 games and 33 points into his NHL career, Yakupov is already a bust? Cool.

played senior hockey, wasn't even the leading scorer, got some U of Manitoba Bison womens hockey player knocked up (which ended her scholarship being preggers), really came back to the hometown area by storm.

Therrien made Galchenyuk play limited time on the 3rd line the entire year since he knew that it would be a big learning curve. He didn't play with RNH, Gagner or BĂ©langer all year long but only with Eller when Eller started to get his game near the end of the season
