I think Mason prolly wants that one back unless it was deflected. - MBFlyerfan
Not that I disagree, but if Mason gives up 1 of those every 8 games, then sign me up
That was a 2 on 1 too. Tough to fault the goalie on an odd man rush unless it's obviously a soft goal |

That cross-ice pass...man. Maybe now that one got to the back of the net, Voracek will stop doing it.
Yeah, I know. |

What we see with the Flyers right now is the lack of elite talent that other teams who have bottomed out have accumulated. - AllInForFlyers
There's top-shelf talent on this team, it's just mostly still locked into the form of potential.
If they can maintain their faith in the current young core, I think eventually they'll have a very special team on their hands. Of course, this being the Flyers, I'm betting we'll be watching our kids grow into fearsome players elsewhere, then they'll come back and torture us year after year.
We can't have it both ways, where we take no risks, try to win every season, yet continue to try to stave off franchises who have no problem with tanking multiple seasons.
By rights, with how awful the Flyers were in 06-07, that should've been a team that drafted in the top 5 two or three more years. We should've had a shot at the Stamkos' and Doughtys and Pietrangelos and Taveres' of the world, because we were that bad. - AllInForFlyers
I don't mind them trying to win every year... what I do think is ultimately their undoing is being stuck in a delusional mindset of being just one big piece away from the prize, no matter what the circumstances on the ice really are. |

What are the chances that they lose the game in which they've scored the most amount of goals this season? |

I absolutely don't mind them trying to win every year. That's why I feel like I do, about taking chances on young, talented players -- because at some point, you have to do that, if you're not going to tank.
I hope there's top-shelf talent on this team -- there are games where you see flashes of it. But tonight, it's clear that the Islanders are faster, as a whole, than the Flyers.
Now, is that because of the fact that they've been playing Jack Capuano's system for the last few years, vs. the Flyers playing under Craig Berube for a couple of weeks? Sure, there's some of that.
But at the same time...guys like Travis Hamonic and Tavares, Bailey and MacDonald...those guys are only getting better, as a team. They have young legs and talent.
The Flyers can't fall behind teams like that.

Why not?
Flyers and the Red Wings have shown that you don't need to tank to draft really good young players. Difference between the Wings and the Flyers is that the Wings keep faith in their young players, while the Flyers piss their great draft choices away in short-sighted moves.
Edit: by draft choices, i meant drafted players, sorry |

So did anyone think they were a real contender when they snuck in on the last day in a shootout and got all the way to game 6 of the final? |

Great game so far.
Exciting to watch, and I haven't felt that way for most of their games this season. |

Ha! Let's just say that I think we're going to need one more goal.
It's the only way to be sure.

Much better 2nd period for the Flyers in terms of overall play. An real bad decision by Voracek is the only reason why they don't have a 2 goal lead heading into the 3rd. |

Luckiest Cup run I've ever seen... from the way they got in, to unlikely players getting scorching hot, to the 0-3 comeback, to the string of favorable matchups... luck just ran out in the end.
Still can't believe they got so much out of Leino and Leighton during that run... |
