Any guy who has had the opportunity to coach the talent Q has would make the top 5 over the past 4 years. Its like giving a guy the most ammo and saying he is a great shot. Because he keeps shooting.

Does not mean I am calling for his head or anything like this. Or not even giving him his due, but this bowing at the alter of Q as if we can;t question anything he does is a bit of whackiness....

- TrueGrit

In the words of the immortal Al Davis - 'just win baby' - and Q has twice. That's 2X more often than guys like AV who had equivalent talent and blew his brains out trying to win with it. What more does Q need to prove?

And further to that, Q's working under the critical eye of the winningest coach of all time who would arrange to have him axed in a heartbeat if he didn't think he was qualified. See the Denis Savard file.

Critique him every night of the week if you want, he's forgotten more about coaching professional hockey talent that you will ever know.

Two of the past four anyway. The other two where John Scott, Andrew Brunette, Fernando Pisani, Marty Turco and others were plug ins not so much.

Questioning moves is fine but denying or glossing over the success is just as whacky.

The logic from your first statement would suggest that AV and the Canucks should also have a few Cups in their trophy cabinet but happily...that's just not the case.

- HawkintheD

Its not glossing over, my point is, and Unnamed made it, those other guys managing top talent were always in the thick of it and often came up short for one reason or another. It is not like the top talent coachers did not make the playoffs. That is my point.

To suggest Q is the only person on the planet willing to put up with all the crap in Chicago and worked magic to win the cup is just insane. When man for man you have wayy waayyyy more horses then the next wagon, you don't have to do much to win more times than not. This poor Q had to coach Pisani etc...feel bad for him...eff that, that is when he needed to figure out ways to manage his personnel and motivate in order to be productive. It is what managers do. The guy coaches an proverbial Olympic team for goodness sake.

Ridiculous argument......plenty of coaches have had fire power over the years equal to the hawks and he has managed to win two cups.....How many to Melrose win with Gretzky and those great teams in LA? How many has Pittsburgh won?

Not bowing at the alter of Q but the win in spite of Q crowd are just plain stupid.....

- UnnamedSource

First, I can't think of a coach who had BOTH Q's firepower AND his blueline depth and never won ... or am I forgetting someone? Second, you slink to a new low -- even for you -- in flat put calling those who don't share you omnipotent opinion "stupid.". You are an arrogant Richard, plain and simple.

The answer is always in the middle, would bet you a dozen pizzas that those guys you mentioned would still be top 5 in wins for the periods you described.

Again, I just ask, where else in the NHL would Handzus even have a roster spot? Yeah Yeah, I know, they won a cup with him on the roster...I know...but where else...?

I would rather see you and ELI platooned...

LMAO, that is funny. Its like I insulted your dad. Thank you all for making my point. As is fun and expected in sports, we question coaches and their decisions. Only here, like in most things in Chicago, you can't question the guy at the top.

I need to summon some kleenex, my feelings are hurt, my world crumbling as it just dawned on me, I am not smarter than Q....

That is fine,

My original claim was the simple reality that teams loaded with talent will make their coaches look good and will be in the running. History shows that, even with all the clowns you tried to reference.

So now, because we won two cups, we are no longer allowed to question what a guy does? Did I say fire him? No...I just am critquing his style. In fact, you and eli would likely coach the hawks to top 5 finish...that was my point.

Cups great..yes, what I hope for.

Disagree entirely.....history shows there are more teams similar to fire power of the Hawks yet little or no chanpionships.....I never said not to criticize but again those who say winning in spite of Q are dumb as a box of rocks...

What about Elaine Veenyo?

I would agree with that; definitely top 5. You can argue that Q let Babs in his head that series but when he put Zus, Bick and Hoss together on one line and Toews, Kane and Sharp on another the Wangs had no answer.

What's all the love for Babcock? Last season, whne he just had to be a 33% winning coach, he was an ohfer. On top of that, he has the refs on his side and still couldn't win a game.

Great coaches don't lose 3 games in a row- unless there are orders to!

classic - another q lover. Like Q is a god or something. With all those wins, he should have more cups. Probably should have more cups with this Hawks team, but Babcock out coached him in 2009 and Tippet out coached him in 2012.

everyone is entitled to an opinion. Btw - the flyers in 2010 - they were an eigth seed and were lucky to get by the bruins. if kreji didn't get hurt, then it would be a interesting series. plus - look who was in the net for the flyers, yikes

Nearly outcoached himself vs Detroit...lets not exagerate, he is the one that blinked and changed everything that made the team what it was all year, in favor of changing his line up. Argue all you wants the merit of it, then he sets line up back and they find a way.

But whatever, his team was a hair more healthier than Bostons, was a great series, to suggest it was Q and not the players is nuts.

Not sure I ever typed that...anywhere...ever. No they obviously didn't have the horses in 2011 and couldn't quite seal the deal against the Nucks. In 2012 they should have beaten the Yotes but other than the bad goals at the wrong time against Crow, when Bickell and Frolik are the only guys stepping up in that series and goiing to the net you're in trouble. Hang that one on Q if you want.

To give him next to no credit, cite injuries against the Bruins and talk about how Babs outcoached him? Not sure whether to laugh or cry....but in the words of US..."No"!
