meh

I'd go for the Glenlivet, but I'd suggest you put a little more money and get something better.

- DrRecchi

I know it's not the best one out there, but I just want something to familiarize myself without having to mooch here and there. Don't want too much of the alcohol burn, and not too much of the peatiness. Thought I'd put about $50 to start.

Friday afternoon.... so it's Scotch recommandation time.

Looking to buy my first bottle of scotch (15% on 2 spirit bottles at the SAQ this weekend) , so I need something accessible. I'm hesitating between Glen Moray 12 and Glenlivet 12. Any input?

if he's a novice then i disagree. Glenlivet 12 is a good one to start on. it's not a bad Scotch at all. you need to develop your taste for it before starting to get into the 50-60 bottles IMO.

I agree with your point.

But I started with Lagavulin 16.

I'll go buy something to familiarize myself with strong liquor as well...probably something a little softer than scotch though (like a bourbon or a cognac).

Yeah, I'm very tempted by bourbon too.

But I'll buy a bottle of this Pur vodka from Quebec. Had it in a bar. First vodka I really appreciated "alone" on the rocks. Apparently it won quite a few prizes.

Don't recall. It sure would be funny, especially if followed by a tuck comment.
