They are.

We knew it, but this is proof the habs can't compete with the best of the league.

SJ don't stop working...and they took advantage of the chances they got, not the Habs.

Yeah, allowing just two goals ain't bad.

But they couldn't scored and were rarely threatening Niemi.

I don't want to blame the refs. I think the better team won tonight, and it's yet another example that the Montreal Canadiens are not ready to compete with the top tier teams in the league.

That being said, the box score of this game bothers me. 3 of the Montreal penalties were essentially for interference (even though only one was called that way) while San Jose ran interference all night. Now I can understand that some of those were reputation calls and that just comes with the territory but some were a little obvious (against Gallagher in the third comes to mind right away). On that note, I'd like to see Therrien blow a fuse in a game like this and maybe turn the tide, even if only slightly.

As for the Montreal Canadiens, I continue to believe that too many players are wrongfully slotted to make this team a competitive one. They are wrongfully slotted out of necessity, but the last 3 GM's haven't been able to fix this problem. Will Bergevin?

Seeing this team play in the regular season makes one wonder how they can continuously choke in the playoffs. Man are they ever impressive.

Habs strength
1. Offensive players
2. Price (so far this season anyways)

Habs weakness
1. Their D (Having 7 poopty players to play with Subban does not equal depth)
2. Too many vets that just can't anymore.
3. Therrien.
