The clear sign for me that this team is still in trouble was the 3 on 1 in the third when g came in to the zone and then stopped skating and looked for someone to pass to...too fancy and not driving to the net...and the puck just squirts off to the corner...I am not sure they have any idea what they ae going to do with the puck when it comes into the offensive zone...just painful to watch...like others have said, i flipped back and forth from other games and was like "wow, are we in trouble"...at worse the team should get the "uneasy feeling" I was taught about when I played...if the other team has the puck, you should feel scared and do everything you can to get it back, the other team can't score if they don't have the puck...The Flyers for the past few years have been happy to play "prevent defense" and watch the other team skate around with the puck...look at Chicago, new Jersey and otheres that have had success...watch how the pursue the the puck and chase it down...the don't watch the puck...they attack it...

Painful to watch, they are going nowhere, they should have grabbed that game last night, but it appears they are incapable of doing so, that Ranger team without 1/2 the talent, was like a first year expansion team, & again Mason wins it for them.
This is ugly & painful

i want to see some significant roster moves but i really don't want holmgren making them

yes, i was watching the kings/coyotes game and seeing richie and carter out there on the pk (richards with the great sweep check at the blue line sends carter in on a sh semi-break) made me wonder all over again. it does look like a different game

They also need an infusion of grit. I noticed once again Giroux and Voracek seem to be avoiding the slot like the plague.

Bill, in your opinion, is timonen done, injured or just late to the party this year? His passes last night on the none PP were horrendous. I'm hoping he's just pressing right now, but his play early on is not encouraging. I've seen him bounce back plenty of times, but sooner or later the car runs out of gas. What's your gut feeling?

Tyrell Goulbourne should be ready in a year or two.

Yep. The changes are evident, but they're still slow in coming. The improvement needs to start picking up more quickly.

I will give it a bit of a pass because they've been off for 6 days, and it can be hard to jump back into game conditions after that kind of break. Of course, the Rangers were banged up, starting a kid goalie and have had just as hard a time finding the twine as the Flyers have been...so it's take the two points and hope that the change starts happening faster

honestly, given the circumstances of everything: their record, their time off, and the state of their opponent, i expected to see more. the building was dead as a door nail, and there's a reason for that.

hopefully they get some confidence and build from it on saturday.

you can't make up a name like that, and it's of zero surprise he's in the flyers system.

I'm noticing a lot of empty sets lately. The team has been boring and tough to watch so it's understandable. Even finite just a baby step last night, at this point I'll take it.

Light years ahead in entertainment compared to the flyers PP. Cannot believe they are this bad on the PP.

I think we can toss talbot returning to the game as a positive and maybe the play of read

Frankly, I did not think any of the replays of the puck going off Miller's skate conclusively showed a distinct kicking motion and I was slightly surprised the ruling on the ice got overturned.

Even if the guy didn't mean to kick it, it sure looked like a pretty blatant kicking motion to me.

Maybe you're just not used to seeing the Flyers get those calls?

Yeah Read had a nice game. Pretty alarming after 6 days off, no aspects of their game really improved. The passing is dreadful, and the PP actually regressed as hard as it is to believe.

Oh, and I'm fairly convinced at this point that, unless Couturier and BSchenn develop into these beastly offensive players, this team does not have enough forward talent to compete.

So much female doging and moaning about the defense, yet we have a guy (Raffl) who was playing in Sweden's 2nd best professional league on their top line.

Never apologize for taking 2 points, but it looked pretty much like every other game. 2 goals or less in 9 straight games is unfathomable.

To me the seem to be chasing the play. They are constantly a step behind everything. The passing is terrible. So scripted and easy to read. They are playing as a bunch of individuals still. It is seriously frustrating to watch.

Guys (G is one of the worst when it comes to this) arent not moving their feet, and are avoiding the important areas of the ice. Raffl needs to go back to the AHL as soon as Hartnell is back. I am pulling for the kid, but he was atrocious last night.

On a positive note: Finally nice to see Read get on the sheet tonight. Kid is a workhorse. I also thought Coburn had his best game in probably a year and half. He looked good at both ends. Mason has just been amazing so far as a Flyer.. I know, I know.. small sample size.

For the season he is 2-5 with a GAA of 2.17 and a s/p of .930%

As a Flyer Mason has now played in 14 games posting STELLAR numbers... 2.03 gaa and .937%

Yea there was no other reason for him to reach his leg out there. He was going to the left of the net when the puck bounced out and he stuck his right leg out (off the ice).. that sealed it for me.
