Hartnell takes too much flack on these threads. I find it mostly baseless, unwarranted and cliched.

when you're a top line player and not performing what do you expect? sunshine and lollipops?

OMG! HARTNELL hacked MOAT's account.

WTF.

- FlyersGrace

I think I have a rep for wanting Hartnell gone from about 4 years ago, but my opinion of him has changed. I think he is a decent compliment that can bounce around the lines once he begins to decline a bit. I do not expect 35+ goals from him, more like 25.

But as I said earlier... Simmonds makes Hartnells puck skills look like foppa. His ankles look like foppa too.

Had an interesting thought while watching Streit repeatedly pound slap shots into shin-pads on the PP last night... is the big point shot starting to wane in efficacy with the way teams are clogging shooting lanes, blocking shots, and collapsing down low?

Only our points shoot, so stand in those lanes and it's all good...

You know what? I am going to single out Jakub Voracek. That guy hasn't looked like he's going to score a goal in a single game this season. Between his cross-ice passes on odd-man rushes, unwillingness to drive to the net with the puck and unwillingness to be a net presence in the offensive zone, then what the hell value is he bringing to this team right now?

He's doing as little as Andrej Meszaros was when I was begging for him to be benched. Voracek's done damn near NOTHING this season.

I know they won't do it, but to me, you can't get worse if you scratch him -- they're already not scoring. If I was Craig Berube, I'd at least not score with guys who are going to the freaking net and not passing up shots on odd-man rushes!

- AllInForFlyers

Voracek is back to his old ways when puck handling. Generating a ton of speed to get as wide as he can. It looks likes he's trying to use the gravitational pull of the net to sling himself into a lunar orbit

New topic... We really need to sign mason to a bridge deal asap. 2/5mil about right? 2.5 cap hit. His price is going to go up with every start. I'm ready to go on record as this kid is the real deal. Even if he is playing his best hockey right mow and were to come down a notch that is still more than enough in the long run for this team.

If you can't get the shot through, it feels almost always like a turnover follows shortly thereafter.

No, that's impossible.

Mason is terrible and we traded Russian Ken Dryden to the Blue Jackets.

I lOved bob and think he got a raw deal in Philly but it's in the past. If stolarz pans out we are looking at 10-12 years pretty good goaltending with mason/stolarz combo

Indeed, especially if your bomb is situated at the top of the umbrella... there's always at least one defender camping for it, if not an entire heap of humanity in the way.

Speaking of dmen shooting the puck, did you guys catch that Luke Schenn wrister last night? My jaw dropped... he must have gotten all of it and then some... it was Stamkos'esque.

He's at his career average in shots per game.

Although, he was averaging over 3 shots per game during his 93-point 2011-12 season, and that number has been on the decline since.

- bradleyc4

I just know on the 3-on-1 in the third when he was carrying the puck he never even looked at the net. Everyone in the building knew he was going to pass it.

He actually scored a couple of goals. Was depressing his team mates by not being like them.

Everyone on the PP has to keep moving so that the PK can't just stay stationary. Then there's a chance for the point shot or one-timer and traffic that blocks vision, not shots.

I only saw one angle on that goal. It did look like mason was never hugging the post. It looked like he was squaring up for a shot from the point. Not even back in his crEase. At first I questioned how he was so far out of position. I understand the deflection and all but from the only angle I saw looked like he wasn't expecting or ready for the initial shot either. Thoughts? Anyone see other angles!

I like Couturier on the PP. I noticed several times that he'd carry the puck into the offensive zone and draw two guys to him and then dish the puck to open teammate which gets the opposition chasing the play.

I'll admit g snookered me. I thought he was going to turn last second and shoot high glove side. When he actually passed I was like "really" telegraph that a little more next time. Just horrible.

Thought the same thing.

Just need patience with Couturier and BSchenn. Does feel like lots of good things in their games. Just need time.

Matt Read is 3rd in the league in penalty +/- with 6.

(means he's drawn 6 more penalties than he's taken)

Today is the first time I ever thought this, but I wish we had Carter and Richards back.

Hartnell-Richards-Giroux
JVR-Lecavalier-Carter
McGinn-Laughton-Read
Hall-Talbot-Rinaldo

And we would have Bobrovsky.
