Thankfully the schedule is pretty forgiving thru Dec. 1. Butsy's got me believing they're at .500 by then.

It's the right move.

What are they gonna do? Free up the 4th line C position and have either Raffl/McGinn play out of position for 5 minutes a night by sending sending down Hall? Or free up a healthy scratch spot by sending Rosehill down?

I'd rather have him play 18-22 mins in the AHL and on the PP thank you very much.

Lesson learned: Don't listen to NHL.com or NHL Network commentators after Flyers' games.

I tweeted Mark Roe this past summer after lazy reporting regarding the Flyers. Craig Button was the voice of reason that night.

Yeah we seem to say that over and over and over. at what point to you let your prospects actually play in the NHL? McGinn seems ready to play but what do I know

I wanted to check Raffl's advanced stats versus McGinn's and I think Raffl compares favorably.

I kinda thought that the reason McGinn wasn't on the top line was because they were trying to give him some chemistry, on his go forward line and Raffle would be sent back when Hartnell got back into the line-up. But apparently I was wrong, they just like Raffl better.
- FlyersGrace

raffl had his moments, but he looks like a 3rd liner at best

I like McGinn's game, but maybe there's something they saw last night with ROFL that they want to keep him around awhile.

laughton doesn't seem to have anywhere near the potential to be the game-changer that JVR can be...but he should be a consistent, steady eddie 3rd line C. don't really see the parallel given we needed a puck mover...
- isaiah520

And if Laughton goes on to play like the 2nd-coming of Rod the Bod in another jersey, and Maatta shakes out to be nothing more than an average 2nd-pairing dman, as projected?

They're teenagers... trying to fill immediate needs with them is pretty nonsensical. Flyers thought Laughton had the higher ceiling... they're still probably right, even if the Maatta beat him to the NHL.

The flip side is that McGinn started out well, but he's faded in the last couple of contests. Going back to ADK to continue working on his game-by-game consistency -- and getting a boatload of PP time -- isn't the worst thing in the world for him.

Plus, he's a top-6 forward and team has no top-6 spots available with Hartnell back.

After a few games we may be clamoring for someone to hurt Hartnell. His first few games didn't show me he was top 6 either!
EDIT: And no I dont' want to see anyone get hurt... I just want them to play better...

I have been very pleased with the puck handling from Mason. He doesn't scare me like Bryz or Biron did. Over the course of the season that will save a few bigger hits on d-men from forecheckers.

My favourite NHLNetwork "idiot of the week" is once again Kevin Weeks who during the slow motion replay of the John Scott hit started counting "one one thousand, two one thousand, three one thousand..." after Eriksson released the puck.

Thats why they should make some trades. Get Raffl and McGinn into the line-up and get a top scorer and Top defenseman to go with our vesina canidate goalie.

Hartnell takes too much flack on these threads. I find it mostly baseless, unwarranted and cliched.
