We aim for optimism.

His floor is not ever setting foot in the NHL... his ceiling COULD be a a better Braydon Coburn, but it could also be Hal Gill with wheels. Who knows at this point... its way to early to tell.

What I can say is that he did impress me a bit in the preseason.

He could be anything from Chris Pronger/Zdeno Chara to Matt Carkner/Boris Valabik to A.J. Thelen (yes, he does exist, and was a first round pick).

Unless rookie goalie Talbot is better than I think he is, the Flyers should break out tonight.

He could be the next Branislav Mezei. He could be the next Zdeno Chara.

I think that's his floor and ceiling.

In what? Hives? That seems more likely than a goal outbreak.

Man, I'd love to have one of their Jerseys. I had a good, cheap night out at those games.

Rangers have allowed 29 goals in seven games...with Lundqvist starting six of them.

I think that is pretty much all I need to say about that.

I'm a big Luke Schenn fan, but he's been pretty bad so far this Season. I don't know why, or what the issue is. Maybe he's not in good shape. He was horrendous on the Crosby goal in the Pens game. In which Coburn unfairly took most of the criticism on that play. But Giroux was just as bad, and Schenn was the biggest culprit on that play.

I used to be a big Luke Schenn fan, thought he would be a team captain some day. He goes through long stretches of time being a defensive force and then long stretches of being completely average. It's frustrating to watch when you know what he is capable of.

Now I'm an even bigger JVR fan. Thanks Philly!

Anyone scoped out those USPHL Flyers jerseys?

Not for anything, but everything you just said about Luke Schenn also applies to JvR, but on the offensive side of things.

Sometimes, he's just a beast. Sometimes, he lollygags on the perimeter like a floater.

A Hal Gill with wheels is a top 4 defenseman.
- PhillySportsGuy

no doubt.. It wasnt a knock.. Hall Gill with wheels would have been a scary d-man.

My point was more that i dont know if he will ever blossom offensively.. and he could top out like Coburn and be more of a softer puck mover type of d-dman or he could be an aggressive physical nasty guy like Gill, but with wheels. Its all a toss up right now..

If they lose tonight, I blame Laviolette's atomic combover.
- PLindbergh31

they just need 2 points, but jeez...the rangers are without all these key guys, it won't even seem like they've turned a corner even if they win. they can't pick their opponent, obviously. i just want to seem them improve on the PP and in putting in at least 3 (frank)ing goals, and an overall higher level of urgency/pace. 3 solid periods of consistent play would also be nice.

i have absolutely no knowledge of his ability. he'll have the game of his life and win. i've seen it too many times before.

I actually would be very surprised if they don't steamroll the Rags tonight. Rags can't score as it is, now they don't have Nash or Callahan. Thrown in no CSP, and this should be a fairly easy win. Should be a good confidence boost.

Paul Holmgren has had a week to stew over this, so, I wouldn't be shocked if it happens regardless of the outcome tonight.
