Hopefully they get some confidence from this. I would have liked to have seen a more aggressive 3rd period. But hey, they won a 3rd period for a change.
- MJL

it wasnt perfect but they did what they needed to do to win there was some good passes i thought giroux should have shot the puck on that 3 on 1 but we won there are still some things that need to be worked on but it is defiantly a step in the right direction

If Timo is in the slightest bit injured he should be the healthy scratch until he gets better. However, I think the Flyers see the writing on the wall.
- jstross

Unless he truly is injured, they have no choice but to play him, and hope he rounds into form.

Between the PP's, a 2 on 1, where B Schenn shot back into the Goalie. And 3 on 1, where they didn't get a shot. Couturier has a chance point blank in the slot where he missed the net. The Flyers had some great chances. They just aren't finishing. They look good defensively. Now need to get better in transition and offensively.

He's just looked bad all season, though. I hope he is hurt, as bad as that sounds.
- Jsaquella

He has looked bad all year, but these past few games he seems to have really lost his stride. Earlier, seemed like he was just rusty and making some bad decisions. Now it seems like he's a reanimated corpse.

By the way, folks:

Mark Streit played well tonight.

No, he's not physical. And I'm sure if someone looks hard enough, they'll find something he didn't do.

But overall, he played pretty well tonight. Luke Schenn was better -- not that I think he's been as awful as some feel, but I respect that opinion, too -- and again, while it's not always pretty, the overall team defense didn't kill them.

There were good things in this game, things that can carry over into the next game. Not fake stuff, stuff that isn't sustainable.

What good would putting him on LTIR do? He hasn't had a strong start, but I'm not ready to write him off yet.

Streit for the most part has played well all year. The better this team gets offensively, the more valuable Streit will be.

if he is on LTIR his salary comes off the books easier to make a move with 6mil more in cap space...however that is only if he cant turn it around which i hope he can i am trying not be negative right now it has been hard this season

Well it wouldn't be 6M and a player's salary on LTIR doesn't come off the books. . And there has to be a move to be made. There isn't one to replace a player you're expecting to be your top defenseman. Also has to be a legitimate injury.

This is probably true. With the PP looking as bad as it has, we are not really getting to see Streit when he's at his best. Or when he has the best chance to help the team. If/when they start getting more offensive zone time (on and off the PP), I think we'll start to see the best of what Streit has to offer. At least I hope so. I'm ready to see him drive home a couple bombs from the point.

Most of the time, Sam is an absolute imbecile when it comes to hockey, but this is pretty funny.

i said it last year and i said before the season started that i thought he's a very good goalie who could turn it around here. his play is bearing that out. i can live with the poop show in front of him right now because of it. if they could score more than 2 gddamn goals a game, he'd be 11-2-0 or there about, with even slightly better stats. he's been outstanding.

I agree but if he is injured then get Mez out there and let Timo heal. Bettr for the team in the short and long term since you can get something for Mez at the deadline.
