I wanted to keep JVR honestly. It was tough moving him so soon.

"IF" you're going to move him how desperate do you have to be to move him in a year when he's coming off a broken foot and a concussion and deal him for a guy who, healthy as a horse, can't break the defensive lineup of a non playoff team?

That in a nut shell is my issue with the whole thing.

That's what I don't get. That's in the past. And Schenn is not the last player to be scratched to light a fire under him. And it was only a couple of games. Players have ups and downs when developing. JVR had them here.

They shouldn't have even let him get to free agency, then matched the offer sheet.

They had the right to do so, and did.

But there's only, what, five or six teams in the NHL who could pay that contract and still build a team around that player. That's why the Flyers structured it that way.

Did they keep their captain and asset? Yes. And it was their right to do so.

But that didn't make it the correct decision. It wasn't.

I still 100% believe he gets traded.... but it wont be because Rinne is out for a month.

no it wasn't. don't know what moves homer would have made had we landed him, but a trade would destroy this roster and their cap, so i'd move on...i think...

It wasn't just the occasional scratch it was the fact that even when he did dress they didn't play him. Leafs fans will give you a fist full of reasons why but the fact is he didn't play that much.

He's right back this season where he was when the Leafs traded him. Yes it's only 8 games and it's a long season and blah, blah, blah. I'm not trashing him really. I'm just thinking we got exactly what I was afraid we were getting.

It would've been difficult, certainly -- I don't pretend that it was a great contract for the Flyers, either. It simply would've been easier for them to absorb the enormous cost of the deal.

I'm...it's tricky. I'm not bitter, in the sense that Weber's a player we never had, so you can't miss something like that.

For me, it's just the pure business sense of the matter. If somebody drops an offer sheet on you like that one was structured...you just take the picks and build a better team, quicker than people think is possible because you let the one player go.

Actually it's about what we got in the trade who is still playing 15 minutes a night for us on defense.

I for one can't wait to see what kind of team takes the ice tonight. Hopefully a team ready to turn it around. It's been too long since there was a game so I hope it's a good one. I'd love to put some of the conversations the past 2 weeks behinds us.

He only just started averaging 15 minutes a night. All the sudden JvR is consistent?
