Hey Colin! Seeing you are a Leaf blogger too, curious about something. Watching with no Gio, we are so shallow at D that Butler was in top pairing with Brodie Would we be better off bringing in Liles & a 2nd for Butler? Would Liles fit a top 4 pairing, in injury situations we know is going to happen. We have some serious D options in 2 years but right now yeeesh!

I don't think you understand my reasoning. I can't speak of Trouba as I have not watched him play this year.
- TandA4Flames

you're reasoning is he's too small, and if he's not playing because of injury he's not developing. Trouba's injury was similar to Nuges. Should Trouba be sent down?

Edit: all i'm saying is a guy getting tripped up into the boards and getting injured doesn't mean he was too small to play in the NHL, it's a ridiculous reason IMO

Nonis might just give the Flames Liles at this point lol but yes he could be a top four guy in Calgary for two more years and help solidify their back end until the young guys are ready.

Anyone know a cool habs fan? I want to make them a bet and if I win they have to have Eller holding a fruit basket.

Good Luck Colin......

I don't think you're going to find Walts choice of AV for you tasteful at all.

My reasoning is that he may not have been physically ready. Call it size if you want. And it's hypothetical. Not once did I bring up an injury to RNH, so his boney little shoulder is inconsequential to the discussion.

Like I said I haven't seen Trouba play this year. But ok, yea, maybe he isn't ready. That's for each teams management/coach to decide.

It can never be proven, but letting these guys have another year in a developmental league, MAY have been better for them. I definitely think the poster that mentioned not forcing top 6 minutes on them was bang on though. You were in a rebuild. Who cares if the vets playing ahead were worse. It may have increased trade value. Either way, you still finished last.

I'd argue that all of these players, Monahan included, would have been best served with more ripening in the A. Schultz has the offense but his D is a gong show.

And I realize that the A was not an option for most of these guys. Its a shame there is no option for special player exemption for the AHL.

Fully agree, It is a rule that helps Junior hockey teams but seems to adversly affect the development of some of their best players.
