Apparently he's been getting some easy minutes, but, he's producing so keep him up.

Ya what they should do is just throw him to the wolves....that would be good for him.

Keep him, he is going to be a star for years to come in CALGARY.

Wrong... He is going to develop way more with the Flames this year considering how many minutes he is playing. There is nothing left for him to learn in Ottawa. The World Juniors however I feel he needs to attend
- Svensational47

Not sure it would be a given the Flames lend him to the World Jr team. What if he continues & is a top candidate for the Calder. I would rather see him hum along & win the Calder quite frankly. We haven't been this excited about the performance in their rookie season since Dion. I thought Sven might have had the chance & even though he is eligible this year & playing decent, Monomonster is turning heads & truly showing the difference between a 13th overall & 6th overall. I truly think in the previous 2 years Monahan would be a top 3 pick.

Colin, I am trying to avoid looking at you right now

That and the fact the team is a top 12 revenue generator in the league, control there own building and have added franchises in other leagues to fill dates in the building paint a pretty rosy financial outlook .

The bigger fear for not spending to the cap is not so much the price of oil but the value of the Canadian dollar. Although unlikely, if it drops back to 65 cents vs the US Dollar, it will change the way some Canadian teams do business.

There's really no reason to expect a swing like that at this point though. Analysts are forecasting an average of $0.90 over the next 5 years.

No flippin' way they would keep him for 40 games then send him down....that's not a way to treat your future franchise star. 1 year of eligibility is jack poop in my opinion. He will be locked up just like all the Oilers "stars" before he get's anywhere close to free agency!
- The-O-G

Absolutely agree, your #1 center for years to come, sign him up long term, dish out the money, hes going to be well worth more to your team than the dollars you pay him, great draft pickup

Don't push it.

The filters are supposed to allow for regular discussion. The term "asset" is frequently used in hockey discussions as is "pass".

Unfortunatley it's not perfect as we see with Richard Tarnstrom for example.

IMO the calder would be nice but its a team sport and team challenges and victories should always be fhe priority. I want to see Moneyhands dominate the WJC!

Likely the correct decision to keep up Monahan. Despite CGY saying they don't want to rush young players like some clubs (Oilers) have, he has shown to be NHL ready physically and mentally.

The next "correct" decision to be made is to give more starts to Ramo. Then, rotate in some of the D kids into Butler and SOB's spots.

Hey Colin (or anyone else that wants to chime in), PHO seems to have a plethora of NHL ready D prospects. What might it take to grab Rundblad? Would a straight up Cammi for Rundblad be fair?

- TandA4Flames

I dont think that Phoenix would be interested in a guy like Cammi. Dont think he would work under Tippet. I think Pho wants to keep working with the kid on his 2way game. They got two older guys on theyre way out soon. Spots are gonna open for him to get a shot. Unless Connor Murphy keeps up his current play in the AHL and they think he will be ready much sooner. Then I could see them shopping Rundblad.

They also have Gormley whk sounds ready as well. I think fhey cohld use a game breaking scorer. Any other trade suggestions that may get Rundblad?

Well Gormley is a Left shot. Hes fits into the whole having Lefty/Righty pairs. Klesla is on his way out. He may even be traded this deadline or before. Morris they may keep around only because he just works in Pho. Pairs nicely with Yandle. But I could see that easily being Stones spot now. I think another issue with Cammi going to Pho is going to be. Would he resign there. Yotes would need to know that if theyre going to move a top prospect for him. Both teams are also now in the same Div. I think Pho if they entertain the idea of moving the kid. Find a deal with Det. They got good Wingers to offer up.
