Wrong... He is going to develop way more with the Flames this year considering how many minutes he is playing. There is nothing left for him to learn in Ottawa. The World Juniors however I feel he needs to attend

I didn't say anything about development, just assest management.

What a well thought out and articulate response.
- Talkshowhost

That's the response your comment deserved!!!

In case you didn't notice the Flames aren't bad, and the games have been awesome to watch.

Their goal-tending hasn't been that great but Ramo has showed promise and his regular strength save % is .984

You don't have a clue what you are talking about, so take your useless comments elsewhere!

Developing your young players is asset management is it not?

Yeah well his save % wont be great because of the Washington game as well but again, it's too early to look at numbers. I look at how he's been playing, seeing the puck etc. He's made some great saves on breakaways and on a penalty shot. He's got game that's for sure.

I thought they should send him back, but after watching 3-4 games, there really is no visible reason to. Sure, he's young and needs to improve but he's a smart player playing big minutes for the team. Glad to see the Flames picked up a keeper.

Remember, its a business to those who make the calls...extending his RFA status by one year could make a difference down the road. Tough to say right now, though.
- Colin_Dambrauskas

While the Flames are owned by an "Oil Barron", and if the price of oil stays at over 60 dollars a barrell, I don't think there is any worry that the Flames won't spend to the cap cealing (as they did under Sutter) to keep guys like Monohan around long term.

No flippin' way they would keep him for 40 games then send him down....that's not a way to treat your future franchise star. 1 year of eligibility is jack poop in my opinion. He will be locked up just like all the Oilers "stars" before he get's anywhere close to free agency!

What the crap? Did you lose a bet too? Or is this a sign of solidarity?

That and the fact the team is a top 12 revenue generator in the league, control there own building and have added franchises in other leagues to fill dates in the building paint a pretty rosy financial outlook .

The bigger fear for not spending to the cap is not so much the price of oil but the value of the Canadian dollar. Although unlikely, if it drops back to 65 cents vs the US Dollar, it will change the way some Canadian teams do business.
