Like I said, I agree when it comes to players like Scott...but to say that goons in general have no place in the NHL is just not accurate. Some goons out there can actually skate and contribute. Scott....not so much, but the guy is a beast and coaches like to have those guys on their side.
“The guy who did it, did his job,” B’s coach Claude Julien of Scott. “He’s out there for two reasons: Either to fight, or to hurt. He did his job.” - Colin Dambrauskas
Don't get me wrong, you need players to protect your stars, but you don't need players to intently injure other stars.
And Julien was a hard nosed player himself, but did you see his eyes after that hit? He wanted to kill someone, mostly Scott. And he's also implying that that's the only job Scott can do in the NHL, and quite frankly, there's no place for him in this league. |

I wouldn't want ANY Oiler... they've all been tainted from a losing culture. |

Well, for the time being, most coaches/GMs disagree...or there wouldnt be so many of them at the moment. And dont get me wrong, I much prefer a Clarkson type player who can do a little bit of everything...but I also in favor of having a guy like McLaren who, while not known for his offense, can still chip in a few. |

I like Smid!...he would make a good shutdown guy for the Leafs imo...wouldnt be a one for one swap, just throwing it out there. |

i could of won the cup with that roster - Dozzer
Maybe. And I'm with you on the whole putting Kessel on the ice thing...it was idiotic.
That being said...hard to argue the results of his time in Toronto. Especially compared to the previous decade. He's done a great job as a coach.

thing is...I believe Dallas has been using him as their number one shutdown line so would be tough to let him go. Hes getting most of the tougher assignments. |

With the way Gonchar and Goligoski have been playing, I can't see them moving any D-man right now. Maybe if they fall out of it. |

oh.. he's a good coach.. but to call him perfect and act like he never makes a bad decision is kinda silly
