Holy (frank)!!!

I know it wasn't a sparkling clean hit, but some people are going way off of the deep end with this (*cough* the entire NBCSN crew *cough*). There is no way that a lug of a skater like Scott could have avoided the hit; Eriksson still had the puck by the time that Scott was fully committed to the hit. On the contact itself, it is obviously to head and will warrant a suspension because of it. There was no elbow (it was tucked in. If you want to see an elbow, look at Leino's against Philly or Cooke on Savard), Scott didn't leave his feet at all, and he never targeted Eriksson's head. The only way Scott can make a clean hit on that play is if he is a good 6 inches shorter. He never goes out of his way to hit Eriksson's head, and was just finishing his check.

That being said, I think it was a stupid decision for a guy like him (a goon) to finish off a guy like Eriksson (classy, skilled player). It was unnecessary for him to even be on the ice in that 4-2 situation. That's where my agreements begin and end with Milbury. He loves to be hypocritical. He was nothing but a goon as well. If it weren't for the solid rosters in Boston, he'd have the same stats as Scott too. He's a BOS boy; grew up there, played there, and coached there. His bias is insanely obvious. Even before the game, Milbury was blasting him when he obviously had not seen him play this year. Scott is still a lug, but his passing and skating is MILES better than what it was in Chicago. When it's all said and done, at least Scott hasn't beaten fans with shoes nor punched kids in the face.

When it's all said and done, I doubt he gets too much over 5 games. No previous suspensions to my knowledge, no targeting of the head, no leaving of feet, injury, principle point of contact, etc. I think the decision to lay a hit like that on a guy like Eriksson was a stupid one, but the hit is not nearly as bad as the propagandists at NBCSN make it out to be. Hearing the absolutely clueless Liam McHugh call it a "vicious head shot" pisses me right the hell off.
