I read this morning that Jensen is still about two weeks away, then he will have to play some in the A to get his timing etc back.
- 1970vintage

I heard the tail end an interview on Team 1040 with someone from the Canucks brass, didn't catch who it was, but they were saying there are expecting Jensen to be back in the Comets line up Wednesday next week.

Getting Burrows back next week and Jensen called up after a few games with the Comets maybe just what this line up needs, especially if reports are correct that Hansen maybe out 4-6 weeks.

I'd rather see how he responds over the next few games after being scratched for essentially nobody(Alberts' one shift). Waiving him this early just to save 1 million dollars in cap space is pointless IMO, unless of course Gillis is targeting players via trade that require an extra million in cap space. I don't see Booth as a great playmaker/passer of the puck that will get any of the AHL forwards going, he's not really known as a leader either. Definitely not a player/coach type like mike Keane for the Moose was and what Nolan Baumgartner was for the Moose/Wolves.

He hasn't played a whole lot of hockey over the past few months, I say give him another 10 games or so and see if he improves at all and then look at your options at that point. Way too early to waive him and send him down right now, especially since the entire team still hasn't fully grasped Torts' system. If this was happening under AV again and we were 20 games into the season then I'd totally agree with you.

No, but the Comets do have a couple of decent playmaking forwards, like Grenier, who is playing fantastic in this short season, who might get a boost from playing with an NHL talent.

He could also help a Comet team that is quite thin on talent up front. It's always better to have the prospects in a winning environment, so if it helps the team, it helps the prospects.

Also, playing against lower competition might boost the guy's confidence.

Like I said, it's harsh, but IMO it's worth a shot.

And he could always get claimed, which clears $4.3 off the books this year and next.

Booth and a pick/prospect for Erat, boom!

Both guys struggling to adjust to their teams and making the same money, ecept the Caps gave up way more to get Erat(still can't believe that trade ).

I still stick with what I originally said, IMO it's only been 10 games or whatever and the guy has barely played over the last few months and also has to adjust to a new coach and system. It's way to drastic of a move to make this early, if he keeps it up for another month then there's no more excuses for this guy.

I'd trade Tanev this season, and call up Corrado.

What do you guys think?

I've been suggesting trading Tanev as apart of a package deal to acquire a skilled forward. I'm guessing that there has to be other team's scouts that believe he has top 4 upside, IMO he is hat he is though as a solid #5 guy. But the move can't be made just yet, let Corrado get in 30+ games at the AHL first.

Tanev has little trade value on his own.

I'd trade Edler for a top 6 playmaker and call up Corrado.

I like this idea. Erat is worth more than he's shown in WSH and was a regular 50 point playmaker for roughly 8 years in a row on a team with notoriously low levels of scoring. On the flipside, Booth doesn't just seem struggling to find a fit but struggling to maintain an NHL career. Would take some crafty negotiation from Gillis.

But like you said, WSH gave up too much to get him so may try to get the some close to the same in return.

Get rid of Booth, yes...he has been a major Bust the last few years...hes got no game...hes not worth 4.25..put him on waivers, send him down.....wasted roster space

Burrows is worth his salary..he contributes alot to this team...

Funny how GM's cope with mistakes and try to salvage or cut losses. Still baffled by what we gave up for Ballard.

I would do that trade, I think Booth and Erat both have a year remaining after this one. We would have to sweeten the pot.

Wish this wasn't an issue and Booth was contributing a bit more. Gotta be difficult for him to have missed so much time due to injury these past few years.

Yeah, Booth doesn't just seem struggling to find a fit within a new team (like Erat) but struggling to maintain an NHL career period. Gillis will have to be at his negotiating best to pull off anything close to a straight swap. It may take something like:

Booth + Mallet or Grenier (+ pick) for Erat

Since the start of the season there has been exactly one transaction:

San Jose Mike Brown Acquired from Edmonton

There are plenty of teams in worse shape than Vancouver right now and none of their GM's have been able to acquire a top 6 forward, or top 4 defence man or starting goal tender etc. etc. I don't think Gillis' competence has anything to do with it.

Most GMs wait until the 25 game mark as an evaluation stick.

Yeah, I think after 20-25 games more GM's talk trades. And keep in mind that some negotiations drag on for days and days(teams scout the players, discuss/debate within organization, etc.)

Agreed.

Not a bad idea, if they're already stuck with his salary.

He's either claimed, gets the message and improves after a while in the AHL, or gives a boost to the forward corps in Utica.

I don't really see any huge negative in any of those scenarios, except that the team is still stuck with his salary anyway with the last two.

I thought it was an excellent ideal also.

Booth, Schroader and 3rd for Canmalarri
Booth for Peverely

I think booth can be moved, for another bad contract that can at least contribute

Cannata.

Made some good saves. Comets got into some penalty issues, and the D has started the season fairy poor as an entire unit, similar to last season. Hopefully they improve like last season after the first couple weeks.

I see him as a 4/5. I'm hoping for him to be Gunnerson

Cheers. I have high hopes for him (Cannata). I think (hope) we have a strong goalie prospect pool. It would lessen the hurt from the Schneids trade.
