why all the love for Tootoo and the universal hatred for Kaleta?? They are the same player
- Mikeleelop

Despite the same "On-the-edge" playing style, Kaleta uses it more to piss people off and draw penalties and also plays on the wrong side of the edge more often. Tootoo, I think garners more appeal because he is the David of the 'David and Goliath' allegory but also isn't afraid to answer the bell, usually against larger opponents. Despite the fact that most would consider them both to be agitators, Tootoo is a bit cleaner.

Could Montreal be a nice fit? I think so, the kind of player Therrien likes!

Tootoo is well known for turtling himself. Still remember the time he cross checked Luc Bourdon in the face when the whistle had already blown after he hit another Canuck from behind. I'm guessing it's a case of him playing in the west all of these years, otherwise he would be hates almost as much as Kaleta. He's also not a great puck possession player and Detroit has had him scratched a few times.

Any team that takes him on at his current cap hit is a sucker IMO.

Let him go play with Sean Avery, I'll refrain from any other comments that might bring a ban.

Why do people with no idea what they're talking about feel the need to talk? I've seen almost every game he played w/Nashville and he's never turtled, much less "well known" for it. As Bugs Bunny would say, "What a maroon."

Uuhh...no. Saw that game too. He tried to jump out of the way after Buffalo's guy pushed him AT Miller.

There's probably more out there(with the Preds too), but that's the first one that came up. Unless you're suggesting that it's just a Detroit thing, which I highly doubt a coach like Babcock would encourage. He's far from a clean player, I would know as a Canuck fan

As a Hawks fan I would love to have Tootoo but at 1.9 that's something the Hawks cant afford under the cap at this point in the season. However, It would be cool to see a Hawks/Wings trade that makes sense for both clubs at some point since Detroit moved out East and are no longer rivals... The only ones I can really remember over the past decade (or longer) is Chelios, Calder/Williams...

This is a clean solid hit... nothing wrong with that. I'd say about 95% Tootoo will drop with just about anybody since I've been seeing him play with both Nashville and Detroit. He does have a talent for getting under the skin of other teams. Like having him on the Wings since he does add some sandpaper to the team, but right now there just is not enough roster spots for him at 1.9 Million.

Tootoo would be a solid addition to the Hawks... but I agree, 1.9 million is a tough pill to swallow for a 3rd / mostly 4th liner.

Interesting point about the Hawks / Wings making a trade. Wings will definitely part with him for a decent draft pick. He's basically a salary dump since Holland needs Nyquist back up in Detroit badly and Eaves & Helm will be coming off IR soon. Just not enough roster spots.

Nothing wrong with the hit, but he's had more than his fair share of questionable ones and maybe it's just from the games I've seen him play but he doesn't always back it up when he's running around with borderline hits. I haven't seen him as much with Detroit so maybe Babcock's kept him under control a bit. I'm not saying he shouldn't be in the league but he's overpaid and not that good of a hockey player(4th liner at best IMO) and you might need to dress a tough guy whenever he's in the lineup to fight for him or to keep the other team in check if they start returning the favour with big hits on your important players.

I had some taco bell and miller lite percolating in my gut all morning long. Co-workers were less than thrilled with me today.
