Flyers and Rangers are straight up awful. we need to win both those games and start taking a lead in the standings.

I agree it's shocking, we haven't been using their demise to build a nice cushion in the standings.
It's all goes back to cappy. B/c the Blackhawks have blown their fair share of leads this year but they have found way to get 2 points.

I would agree non-existent in first 6 games and the preseason. But i think he becoming alot more visible last 3 games. He great on the puck, excellent passer, and has to stop being so cute around net.
Him, bailey and Nielsen are cycling the puck well. Keeping it out of our defensive zone. something this team needs to get better at.

- Spartiarti

Bailey and Nielsen cycled the puck great with Grabner on that line, too, and did it last season with KO on their line. So I question, Mr. I Know Everything About Hockey, whether it's PMB driving that possession, or whether he's simply the beneficiary of playing with two other guys who know each other's tendencies and who are playing with loads of confidence right now.

Yeah, we play both of those teams in the next week, so we'll see how high and mighty we can be about their struggles depending on how we do against them!

Yeah, agreed. We could very well be in the same position in just a few games...

Uh oh...
It's a shame we can't run a four forward line, since I think Okposo's best hockey has been played with Nielsen and Bailey as has Grabner's
I suppose that's more of a tribute to just how good Frans and Bailey are together, as you insinuated

When i think about it that part from his post was even more funny when I read it the second time.
- Cptmjl

I think he makes a few decent points here and there, but a couple of his comments are way too far off the wall to start offering suggestions of where people here might 'learn' about the game. Messageboards can be so fragmented when it comes to getting a clear view of someone's personality/knowledge, that I'd be very careful throwing stones in this cyber-glass house!

I'm starting to think we may be witnessing another dark period for the Rangers. Just a theory and I could be way off, but this team clearly isn't built as well as many thought. Tort's system was good enough, along with Lundqvist's goaltending, to mask larger issues. For all of the love their defense gets for the incredible amounts of blocked shots over the last few years, the reality remains, if you're blocking that many shots you're probably spending too much time in your own zone.

With Henrik closing in on Free Agency, mgmt is going to have to do a lot to prove to him that they are committed to turning this around FAST and that could have them returning to a spending spree style as opposed to the more careful approach they've demonstrated over the last few years. If this disaster continues for them, Henrik is as good as gone IMO.

One note in regard to Henrik, someone mentioned about the equipment being smaller and it's effect, to which I totally agree and have mentioned myself in the past. Henrik has always looked HUGE in his equipment and I can't help but wonder if that too is having an effect. These things all add up.

great writeup on islanderspointblank for you guys that dont understand the full game of hockey. I said PMB is starting to be quite noticeable.

it wont be long before you see him start putting up points.

no need to laugh keaner, I was high on Bailey and Nielsen too last year when eveyrone wanted to ship them out in trades.

You have to admit. People way too fixated on stats. hence why people that dont know hockey love Moulson. not realizing he as one dimensional as they get.

Im all for Moulson on top PP1, guy is the ultimate goal hanger and has great shot, But 5 on 5, would prefer Grabner or PMB with KO and JT.

- Spartiarti

wasnt your proof of PMB being good based SOLELY on advanced stats?

I am worried about tonights game. I can see the Penguins steam rolling us tonight. Poulin I think is net plus our D can not handle there offense. If the Islanders I need Kunitz to get a lot of points he is on my fantasy team

Most 20 goal scoring left wingers likely become 30 goal scorers on JT's wing. There were nearly 40 left wingers. who scored around 20 goals in 2010-2011 (last 82 game season). I don't think it would be nearly has hard as you think.

Moulson had the goal of the month last week on the Backhand top shelf move on "the Bob". .. just saying.

Why are you comparing Moulson to Ryan? I never mentioned anything about Moulson. Also never mentioned anything about Moulson lack of defense.
I already know what Moulson is, my original comment was Snow being creative and bringing in better talent, whoever that may be, F, D, G at any cost or any position. So I used Ryan as an example because he was available and is far talented then all Isles except JT.....

- Ur Not Me

You sound like u are getting upset.. I thought we were just shooting the sht here.. you listed Bobby Ry as one of those much better than MM. I was just saying that u might not feel that way if he was on the team.

does this mean you have insiders telling you they didnt?
- LetsGoIsles

Do you?
Do you have any evidence that they did?

Isles have (had) more then enough assets to have acquired Ryan and still not mortgage their future.

From the deal that was made. We could have done better (or equal) and solidified our 1st line for years. Having done that. The 2nd line would be stabilize also.

If Snow wanted him. He could have gotten him.

Ryan would have been a huge piece to the puzzle and we still would have plenty of good prospects in our system.

Every prospect in our system will not pan out or become a lifelong Islander!

The place to hit Snow is his plan. If you aren't satisfied with what you're seeing or what he's done, it's his overall plan you're objecting to. Love him or hate him, he's remained consistent with his approach since this rebuild began.
Snow will not overspend.
He will not go shopping just to shop.
He has specific roles he wants filled and continually looks for temporary plugs to fill those roles until his draft picks are ready to take that spot permanently. He is a fiscally responsible GM who refuses to consider any shortcuts now.
From a fans perspective, it's frustrating because we see guys like Bernier, Ryan, Hiller, Halak, etc etc and want to see the team to make a pitch but that won't happen.
There will be no trade for a goalie. No trade for a top four dman. Your next goalie is either Nilsson, Mikko or Poulin (or another prospect) and dmen are Reinhart, Pullock, Pedan etc...
That's the plan, I wouldn't expect anything more.
From there, Cappy will implement the lineups as he sees fit.

- keaner17

Your right. 1000000%.

But what he's doing IMO can never be accomplished in 6,7, or even 8 yrs. No less the 5 yrs he promised. He's always looking to the future to fill a hole instead of filling it now.

Then he just lets assets walk instead of getting something back.

You just cant keep waiting on Prospects and filling in spots with marginal waiver picks & over the hill players like Martinek. Sure some work out but hey if you roll the dice often enough. You have to win occasionally. But the chances of getting rich are slim.
