Sorry I just don't see what you see with Amac, he is replaceable. On the moulson front i will be ok either way they go with him.
- Dan Petriw

They will do what Garth always does.. he will offer him a contract that he feels is the Fair price. he will come back with what he thinks is the right number.. they will shop him around and decide NOT to trade him for the "playoff run". Then he will sign with another team for about 1 or 2 million more or 1 or 2 years more than they askes Garth to sign him for and we will all be doing Chuck Norris Matt Moulson jokes next season.

Martinek signs, that means Donovan getting benched. wonderful.

Actually it probably means that Viz injury worse than expected.

Moulson should not be resigned for the money he will want. If isles let PAP walk, they should definitely not resign Moulson unless he taken a pay decrease.

Dont let moulson fool you. He is excellent PP guy but terrible 5 on 5. his goal last nigh was pretty sweet though.

Even Cap is not THAT dumb... although instead of sitting Carkner I bet he sits Hickey.

great, so now that martinek is signed, say goodbye to Brock Nelson. Donovan will stay with the team and Nelson will be the odd man out.

If they'd waive strait or carkner I'd be okay with this, but it's a bandaid solution that ultimately hurts us by having to send Nelson down.

Lubo could be out for a while who knows. By the time he comes back we can have other injuries and such

I seem to remember most of this board thinking PA would be a shoe in and take a home town discount because we were the team that gave him his chance? I found that funny at the time, almost as funny as Moulson signing for jack shat. These guys play hockey for millions, it's how they make a living and they live well. Their agents and them aren't going to take pay cuts when they feel they're due because of Islander pride. JT is an anomoly and you can bet your a$$ he'll be getting set for a huge raise come FA. Moulson is a one trick pony and anyone knows this is his only shot for a pay day and you can bet your a$$ he's going to take it.
- Cptmjl

As he should. He needs to do the best thing for himself and his family. As much as fans want team loyalty it only goes so far. People make it sound like 1 million is no big deal. These guys have a small window to make as much as they can. There are only so many color commentator, front office or coaching jobs for them after hockey. What else can these guys do? Mike Bossy was working for a potato chip company because he couldn't get a job in the league until the Isles brought him back. I'm always disappointed when a player I like leaves the team, but I can never really blame them.

Gaborik doesn't play defense either.. fyi.
- niteislander

But Gaborak can skate faster than a yard gnome. He also has a hell of a shot.

I do actually see your points I promise.. I just don't agree with them.. sorry. While I do think Moulson being on JT's wing make his numbers go up.. .I think he deserves that spot b/c he is an ELITE scorer. How many other guys do we see on JT's wing that are not quick enough, or skilled enough to put the puck in the net. Yes, I understand the JT aspect... I just think that JT needs Moulson as much as Moulson needs JT. ... If he is not paid, extended, etc. We will regret it. Guys with hands that good, an off season work ethic that good, and a friendship/comradarie with JT that good... do not come a long often.. sorry.

(you forgot to mention LeClair on Lindros' wing).

- niteislander

Not even close. JT is one of the top five fowards in the game at this point. He'll produce at better than a ppg clip with or without Moulson. Moulson is a slot banger. They aren't as hard to find as you think. The kid is useful there, it's just highly questionable whether his skillset will meet the asking price.

If you add up all the "B" level signings by Snow...Bouchard, Regin and Martinek...about 3.4 million...you could have gotten one good defenseman and you wouldn't be blocking any prospects...

Tell that to JT after Grabner, Bouchard et. al miss wide open nets.
- niteislander

Moulson has missed plenty or didn't have his stick on the ice for an easy tap in, believe me. Bouchard is terrible, bad comparison.

If moulson wants 5 mill a year for 3 years I don't have an issue with it. They will not give him as much as JT but he is worth a lot. Maybe I have just watched this team longer than u guys but I remember a LOT of guys with tons of talent that just could not score consistently at this level We all Assume Brock Nelson will score 40 or 50 goals on JT's wing..I hope u are right I am just not as confident. when u saw Moulson's second goal THAT was a thing of beauty a goal scorer's goal..
- niteislander

I'm going to guess not unfortunately.

I don't have him as kenny Johnson but he is not terrible. He is playing on our top pairing playing about 30 minutes a game. He makes mistakes.. I would argue he would make less if we were not leaning on the guy so much to play every shift.
- niteislander

This means nothing when you look at our blueline and don't forget the Capuano factor.

Martinek back is not a bad thing. What Capuano does with martinek back will be a bad thing though.

I heard Radek injured his hand signing the contract and was placed on IR retro to last night when Garth faxed his agent the offer.

That was exactly what I said before those signings when I predicted he'd do exactly what he did and what I repeatedly said after he did it to much negativity on this thread.

I don't consider any of them likely signings, but UFA's next year:
Gaborak
Heatley
Vanek
Marleau
there's a pretty decent list of UFA's next year. It all depends on Moulson's asking price and flexability.
I'm not saying these guys excell in ALL of those categories, but they are IMO upgrades on Moulson.

- keaner17

Gab is 10 goals more a season but the same d liability
Heatley isnt better then Mouslon
Vanek would be a nice idea.
I have loved Marleau since the day he was drafted.. but he retires a Shark.. If he hit the market thou...

With all that said... Moulson has something that we don't know if any of these players would have with JT... chemistry.
