Calgary is off to a good start, but its an 82 games season not a 10 game season, and they don't hand out Stanley in November, smart guy.

And do you remember how awesome Edmonton was during that one December stint when Khaby was unbeatable? Yeah, The Oilers sure did win the cup that year

Although there have only been 10 games played, I don't see the Oilers doing any better this year than last year. Too many injuries, no goals being scored, questionable defense. As I said earlier, the re-build continues. If they can't win on the road they won't do much better at home the way they are playing. Dubnyk won the last game for them in Ottawa. If he can keep up the steady play at least the games will be close. Something about the coach bugs me. He may be a fitness freak but he sure hasn't made any strides yet in regards to the win loss column.

Also I think Belov is terrible. I think the fact that he is occupying top 4 minutes and getting PP time is part of the reason we are doing so bad. I swear that guy has the best accuracy in the world and is intentionally aiming at goalies with his slap shot. It's the only thing that makes sense. It's a bullet and not one goalie has made it look tough to stop.

Exactly.....so you want him out there skating while he's injured? Only to come in and ride the bike too?

Uh, sorry, not in the convo, just adding that tidbit as to why they ride the bikes after games.

You do realize we scored 5 against Toronto, 3-5 goals against Winnipeg (can't remember), 4 goals against New Jersey, etc?

As long as Dubnyk sees the light or we get someone else in who can do the job and just not be a below average goaltender, Oil will be fine.

Yup, I do realize that, we still lost the games though. We did beat New Jersey. With Hall out, it may be tough sledding from here on in. The team is too small up front and too may injuries, especially for the beginning of the year. I don't think the Oil will be in the playoff hunt this year. Based on the first 10 games played. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think so. When you've played 1/8th of the season, it some times tells the story of where the team is headed. Again, I hope I'm wrong.

We were losing because of our goaltending. We continue to get goaltending like we had the past couple games from dubnyk and Hall won't be missed at all. Either that or Yak gets going or the PP.

Pretty much one of 3 things and this team will be fine for the next month without Hall. That and gagner is probably back any day now.

Alright. Your first post made me shake my head but now with this its clear you have not watched the games. Goal scoring has not been the issue at all.

Nurse looked a thousand times better than those other 3 guys you mention with him. I'm predicting he will be our version of Weber/Pronger/"insert big name dman here". Davidson has developed nicely and is a victim of the depth charts. He will be getting his shot soon.

Marincin and Gernat need at least another solid year in the AHL. Fedun is another depth chart victim too.

Why are you so negative and why do you continuously post novels for your comments?

If you want Nichuskin so bad, go cheer for Dallas.

- ChetManly

We will agree to disagree. I think Nurse got better before he was cut but in no way do I think he is going to be better than Klefbom or Marincin. I think these dmen appeared as ready for the NHL as Acrobello and Acton were before the season started. Acrobello has been a nice surprise. I think Marincin and Fedun could surprise some people.

Definitely all our dmen would best be served by another year in the minors. Maybe 1 will surprise us and be ready next year. However when Marincin is, he is HUGE and has talent. It is hard not to think of Chara when you look at him. I know he won't be the same caliber but even a a 3-4 pairing version of Chara is a good player.

I think I am not alone by thinking that the Oilers did poor at the draft this year. Doesn't make me less of an Oilers fan. The obvious pick for the team was Nichuskin, that is why I mention him. A large Russian winger when the team is worried about having a small top 6 and no Russian's to play with Yak (the last part is more comments from media and on this forum, I don't know how the team feels). The team is LOW on forward prospects and someone who could have added to the roster this year would have made sense. There is no way you can deny that a defense man was a little surprising considering the team makeup.

Man where would I start???

Belov is intentionally missing and hitting goalies???

Oh geez why bother responding to this poop....

- Iggysbff

That was actually a joke. I was commenting on his lack of ability to generate anything resembling a goal or a near miss. It didn't need a response.

Sorry this would never happen. First off Giggy has a NTC and its has been stated that he wants to retire in Colorado. MacKinnon is our franchises future, when they ask Roy why they drafted him, his responce was the identity of the Avs in the glory days was it was a team with elite scoring centers, scoring and speed is what made them great.

We have center depth right now, but with Stastny a UFA and O'Reilly moved to the wing, why would trade MacKinnon. Weird proposal filled with wishful thinking

- DDM-Coga

I thought it was lopsided the other way. Giggy is 84 and NTC are just a hurdle. Mackinnon is good but I don't know that he is better than Yak. I know he is playing on a team that is doing really good right now. Something Yak has never had the benefit of. I agree the trade would never happen but it is not a dream. In fact it is something I don't want to see. I like Yak better. Kid is going to be amazing.

That really sucks about Hall and Smyth. 4 weeks is a long time to be without Hall. Especially when he was doing so good. 1 week is too short a time to be without Smyth, especially since he was starting to try his wrap arounds again.

At least Eberle is healthy.

Smyth hasn't been the issue with this team as of late. He has been playing well.

Flames are smoke and mirrors right now. With out the pp clicking at an unreal rate and solid goaltending they would be terrible.
- Iggysbff

It's probably true but I'd rather what we have going on compared to the mighty Oil.

People talk as if Feaster is a genius for taking Monahan

Monahan was the obvious choice! My (frank)ing dog would have taken Monahan at #6 overall...

That's like calling me a genius for not sh1tting my pants in public today.

Marincin is 21 years old...is 6'4" tall and weighs 180lbs. and that's with a mouth full of rocks, a can of beans in each hand and a hard-on! He's gonna get broken in half in the "N" if he doesn't find a way to pack on another 30 lbs.!
I hear a lot about the Oilers have descent size on the blueline......have you ever seen any of these guys in person? Petry for instance....They may be tall enough but they got frames on them like 14 yr old girls!! And everybody B.S.'s when they put down the size of their players......Hell.... Mike Comrie was listed @ 5'10" 185lbs !!! yeah right!
Nichuskin doesn't seem to be get anymore done than Yak right now either.
