Because skating without a stick is completely different! (Seriously) - The-O-G
You have two hands and any sort of skating is better than nothing. The guy is going to need time to get into game shape now as well as healing from a sore female genitalia. |

Not at all. Guys play with broken bones in their hands and wrist all the time. How the hell can't a captain of a struggling team step up and practice to inspire his teammates? |

Hall is injury prone. It is pretty sad, but I have 0 confidence in his ability to stay healthy. I kind of feel the same about RNH. - Pillar
In all fairness it was a knee on knee hit and I dont know of too many people that take those and just skate away like nothing happened |

I looked around and couldn't find anywhere that specified which hand. If its his left, maybe makes a bit of sense but barely. |

Like you mean when holding it with both hands? Or are you being stupid and presuming all left handed people, shoot left? |

The trade is a good one. Brown was made useless this off season. No team needs 3 fighters. There are NHL Caliber guys out there to sign. I think this was a move to free up a contract spot. I am wondering if it is not for a more solid backup. Trying Bryzgalov instead of Labarebera? Small risk if you do a 1 year 1 million dollar offer. Has to be better for Bryz than playing in the ECHL.
At some point this is going to open the door for Omark or Jones. Arguably NHL caliber players. They play a different game than Brown but in theory they should be better offensive players.
As for Yak. It would be sad to trade a guy that hasn't really had much of a shot this year or last. When he did get a shot last year he capitalized. Now he is playing on a dismal team with a new coach who has put all sorts of pressure on the 19 year old to perform. Pressure that is not put on any other player with maybe the exception of Acrobello. We would not get the value he is worth right now. We don't have the cap room for any better player and with the exception of Mackinnon I can't think of a rookie I would rather have.
Now if we can make that happen
Yak
Duby
A strong D prospect
Belov
Mackinnon
Gigure
I would be happy with that. COL has tons of Centers. They need wingers. Varlamov is their goalie of choice but Giguere has 2 SO already this year. Belov is good but he just takes slap shots with no accuracy. I don't know that he is better than the guys we have in the AHL. I do know that we can replace him with a guy almost as good if not better from our numerous off season signings. Edmonton needs a center in a bad way, Giguere allows us an experienced tender and this gives us salary room to sign Bryz as a back up. Allowing for two improvements to our goalie spots. - Hall Fan
I don't think this is a good trade for either team. Try again, son.

This team lacks Gritt and toughness. They are a bunch of wusses. PreMadonnas. Metro Sexual's. I don't see how so many high draft picks can suck so bad! |

Exactly....if the hand you hurt is your top hand I can see the reasoning why he isn't skating, especially cause he hasn't been hurt for very long.
Not to mention doing bike sprints is probably better for your overall conditioning (hence why they ride the bikes after games) and less chance to injure or wear out your groin/hip flexors |

Put the bath salts down buddy! You are out to lunch on Belov! Here's a tip....until recently.....the whole team was playing terrible! Your complaining about a guy that's never played on the smaller ice surface before ......from another continent, trying to learning our language and understand what's going on......and was arguably a bit of a question mark as to weather he'd even make the team this year....and missed most of preseason because of travel visa issues.....and yet has managed to make it into the top 4 to his credit and poses to only get much better as time goes by and he gets comfortable.......and after a grueling whole 9 games.....your ready to "call in the dogs and piss on the fire"........Are you Fcukin Nutz! - Rhino

Ryan Garner: Making Moves: Oilers Deal Brown to Sharks for a Fourth - Ryan Garner
Softest team in the league. This team is in last place and will remain there for the rest of the year. Sorry but after tonight the team will be 2-7-1. 5 points out of a possible 20 is not a playoff bound team, rather it is a 1st pick team at the draft again this year. The re-build continues for another 5 years or so. Calgary is a better team than Edmonton and they just dumped a whole bunch of players, how is that possible? |

Oh it is the same person. He changed his name after stating that the Oilers Defence was actually better than Boston's and Rask was the only real difference. That retarded statement generated a lot of visits from trolls league wide. He also has a hate on for Lowe and Mac T, loves Nik Antropov like no other, is a professional hockey writer for another site, is family friends with a Penguins exec, had dinner with Sather, knows Horcoff socially, makes stuff up and passes it on as fact all the time.basically, he's a tool. |

Calgary is off to a good start, but its an 82 games season not a 10 game season, and they don't hand out Stanley in November, smart guy. |

They ride the bikes to break down the lactic acids in their muscles that build up during the game. |

Not at all. The Yak rumours are 100% malarkey. The thing is though, the team as a whole is not playing well. People say we need a true top pairing D-Man yet there were a few teams without one that made the playoffs (Anaheim is the first to come to mind, maybe San Jose and the Islanders), we need a goalie that doesn't suck (sorry Dubs, good game against the Sens but you licked balls otherwise) and some solid bottom 6 guys that can score as well as keep the puck out of the D Zone.
Personally, I think the biggest problem is coaching. The team made huge gains under Kruger. Sure he looked like a pederass but what does that have to do with anything? I trust Mac T's judgement because he truly is a smart hockey man ( anyone who doesn't give him credit for the run to the finals didnt watch every series or is retarded), but I sure am questioning that decision, or at least the timing as far as the umpteenth coaching change. I don't think a big trade is the answer. I think we need some consistency to let the po layers learn this gay new system and how to execute it with each other. - Jeropotato
First off because I know he reads HB , Dubs played good against the Islanders too, the poor defense and not burying some good chances cost us that game.
In no way am I saying Dubs is our guy for the future but I still say our #1 need is a true #1 top pairing D-man. If you look at all the teams that won the cup and the teams they played against since our run had a true #1 top pairing D-man if not 2 of them at that time. If you even look at our run, even though I did like Roloson, I can easily say our goalie was considered top notch in the league but we added Chris Pronger for that year and look where it got us. Yes, MacT's system played a big part, Roloson played phenomenal as well as the rest of the team but there is no denying what Pronger brought to our team. I don't think it is any coincidence that after he left and from that point on of not having a true #1 D-man we haven't made the playoffs. Yes we could maybe make the playoffs with a goaltending upgrade but we won't get anywhere without improving our D-core and that means getting 1 if not 2 true 1st pairing D-men, we only have 2nd and 3rd pairing guys but atleast now have good depth with them. |
