People talk as if Feaster is a genius for taking Monahan

Monahan was the obvious choice! My (frank)ing dog would have taken Monahan at #6 overall...

That's like calling me a genius for not sh1tting my pants in public today.

- laughs2907

...and Poirier, Klimchuk, Wotherspoon, Seiloff, Gaudreau, etc.

Yeah and Edmonton has had some real tough picks to make over the last 4 years...

Agreed picking #7 this year must of had them out of their comfort zone for sure.

I didn't say Stu Macgregor was a genius, did I? Actually, I think the guy is severely overrated at this point, and he is not deserving of his "magnificent" title.

Your attempt to turn it around on the Oilers does not change the fact that Feaster is still a numpty.

Maybe so, but I still would take him over the old boys club in Edmonton.

We will agree to disagree. I think Nurse got better before he was cut but in no way do I think he is going to be better than Klefbom or Marincin. I think these dmen appeared as ready for the NHL as Acrobello and Acton were before the season started. Acrobello has been a nice surprise. I think Marincin and Fedun could surprise some people.

Definitely all our dmen would best be served by another year in the minors. Maybe 1 will surprise us and be ready next year. However when Marincin is, he is HUGE and has talent. It is hard not to think of Chara when you look at him. I know he won't be the same caliber but even a a 3-4 pairing version of Chara is a good player.

I think I am not alone by thinking that the Oilers did poor at the draft this year. Doesn't make me less of an Oilers fan. The obvious pick for the team was Nichuskin, that is why I mention him. A large Russian winger when the team is worried about having a small top 6 and no Russian's to play with Yak (the last part is more comments from media and on this forum, I don't know how the team feels). The team is LOW on forward prospects and someone who could have added to the roster this year would have made sense. There is no way you can deny that a defense man was a little surprising considering the team makeup.

Well I certainly can't argue that. Our management has been an embarrassment... Yup.

It's probably been discussed lots but I think moving Brown is to make room for another deal.

I think it'll be a Lander for Crosby deal.

Marincin is 21 years old...is 6'4" tall and weighs 180lbs. and that's with a mouth full of rocks, a can of beans in each hand and a hard-on! He's gonna get broken in half in the "N" if he doesn't find a way to pack on another 30 lbs.!
I hear a lot about the Oilers have descent size on the blueline......have you ever seen any of these guys in person? Petry for instance....They may be tall enough but they got frames on them like 14 yr old girls!! And everybody B.S.'s when they put down the size of their players......Hell.... Mike Comrie was listed @ 5'10" 185lbs !!! yeah right!
Nichuskin doesn't seem to be get anymore done than Yak right now either.

- Rhino

I agree about the size thing. Height is one part. That is why I think he needs this year and next at least in the minors before he is ready. He has to bulk up. I was hoping the OKC staff would have done something already last year to put him near 200lbs. Eakins has them all on this huge endurance kick which hopefully includes some weight training for Justin and Petry.

I do like the old days where I trusted the measurements more. Where a guy like Mark Lamb could be listed at 5'7 and people would still take him seriously.

Nichuskin really should be in the minors this year. I think it would have been better for him but KHL or third line Oilers is pretty much the same. I am not even saying he was the best pick. Maybe that was the pick to trade down and get Horvat or 2 second round picks. All I know is that we needed a D man like we needed a hole in the head and if we wanted size on the blue line that bad, there were better two bigger guys. Mind you Buffalo is doing no favors playing Rist so much as he is not ready this year.

Smyth hasn't been the issue with this team as of late. He has been playing well.
- Lahey

He has been playing okay for a guy eating up a lot of valuable ice time. He is not a top 6 forward like Eakins thinks he is. He has to be gone for Yak to get his chance. If we are going to lose, we might as well give Yak the ice time. I am going to go out on a limb and predict we don't resign Smyth in the off season. Its time to give our young stars a chance. Tonights lines look decent for who we have left.

I love how you get so worked up when I give my opinion but you never actually offer a counter statement. You just say it is wrong or even less with some sort of emoticon. It makes my statements worth while. Not that I am trying to work you up specifically. I am not being negative here, I actually laugh that you make a point of saying something but in reality you say NOTHING about my posts. I like how some things in these forums are the same.

Your non comments and the fact that I can blame lowe, MacT and Eakins for a large part of the Oilers poor performance this year and someone will defend them blindly. Even though if they really think about it, they are just defending them because Lowe and MacT are beloved Oiler players that have ruined the team since they came into management. For every good thing someone can say they did that same person can probably think of a dozen bad moves. Lowe and MacT have to go. I know MacT hasn't had much of a chance but he should never have been a GM.

Emoticon away my good man. Do a couple of the slapping head ones, those are my favorite.

Alright. Your first post made me shake my head but now with this its clear you have not watched the games. Goal scoring has not been the issue at all.
- Iggysbff

You have to score more goals than the other team to win don't you?

Yeah, but we have the 13th best goals per game average, so it's not really an issue for the Oilers... Goals against average is 29th though

If they can get the goals against average down then they have a chance. But you can't win every game on the back of Dubnyk. The oil had 21 shots against Ottawa and their power play was terrible. With Hall out, Eberle questionable, the Oil will need Yak to step up and start to play the kind of game he can. Hitting and shooting are his strong points. Like Hall he doesn't mind the body work. Of course I'm not an expert like some people on this site, just my opinion. It some times doesn't pay to post your opinion here. You get told you don't watch the games or you don't understand the concept of the game. Go Oil. Any of you experts out there want to make any bets on the game in Montreal? I have a bottle of Tequila that I will bet against anyone who wants to take me up on it.

defense and goaltending. But as I said, you have to outscore the other team to win, no matter how you want to put it.

Duby played well in Ottawa and held us in it. But the shots on goal don't show the full story. Our pp sucked yet we still had more high quality chances than Ottawa did. Lehner made more "big" saves than Duby.

We had 3 glaring issues the first 3 weeks.

1. Goaltending (frank)ing sucked. It has been vastly improved over the past 3 games.
2. PP has gone to poop. How do we go from top 5 the past 2 seasons to terrible.
3. PK is terrible.

Fix these 3 and we have a far better record.

Dubnyk has been one of the main reasons we have been losing games this season... He had 1 good game, 1 average game, and 4 crappy ones... If Dubnyk was average all year, we's probably have 9 or 10 points now instead of 5.
