Would you say this is a reflection on nhl gms doing a poorer job at building teams and signing worse contracts. That along with the cap dropping .

i believe there is a group of GMs not giving young players enough credit right now.

My head is going to explode... so now we have to consider Corsi, Fenwick and Eklund stats to figure out why the Leafs aren't in last place yet...

Every year there will br rebuilding teams such as buffalo, calgary, Fla ect. But there are extra teams like edm, philly and debateably njd that are doing terribly when theoretically they shouldn't be. Philly's gm has traded like a mad man but not solved the teams problems while tambles from edm did nothing but put #1 overall picks on a 30th placed team and assumed that would be enough. So to me the question is why are so many teams doing poorly (also why is the west destroying the east). I would say poor Gms .

The goaltenders in the west are much much better than the easts' goalies.

SV%:5 out of 10 top goalies in league are from east. 12 out of top 20 are from east
GAA:5 out of 10 top goalies from east. 11 out of top 20 are from east...

pretty even

Bad news, Ek. Those stats you used don't mean anything. There will always be elite teams and there will always be cellar dwellers. Of course within those parameters there are going to variables, but that doesn't prove anything. Show me a sports league that doesn't have elite teams and bottom feeders.

Allow me to explain:

Eklund has used a series of complex algorithms to determine that there are some teams in the NHL that are really good and there are other teams that are really bad. This was determined 8 games into the season, ergo, it is bullet proof logic.

Sample size is far to small, you could probably take an 8-9 game sample from any point in any season and get drastically different results than another team. Teams have hot and cold streaks... If the numbers over a full season where that drastic than I would say there is a growing gap.

If bad teams are always sellers they never get better. Especially when u miss on picks.

yes, i just counted 37 wins for west regardless of ot/so and 20 for east regardless of ot/so , and i was 1 off...21 for east

so the west have 37 wins against eastern teams, and the eastern teams have 21 wins against western teams

And the Eastern Conference really sucks. The majority of the really bad teams are in the East.

it's early, but as of right now this is correct, 7 teams in east under .500 and only 3 in the west

the west has been a powerhouse for years now, but teams like st louis and san jose are looking to finally be having breakout years theyve been on the fence of having for 2 years now

There are 6 teams with none or one regulation loss: SJ, COL, PIT, ANA, CHI, STL. PIT is the only Eastern team.

3 teams have only 1 win, regulation or OT: NJ, BUF, PHL. All 3 from the East.

I'll leave COL out because it's early, and they don't have much of a recent track record. Who in the East is as good as SJ, ANA, CHI or STL (not even including the Kings). And I just watched CHI spank TOR, one of the better Eastern teams. Outshot the Leafs 40-20. Only strong goaltending kept the game close.

Ekland

A is your usual oversight, Anaheim has a +11 goal differential but you failed to list them, but then, why am I not surprised, you as do others fail to give them their due.

Take the deviation of the derivative, and multiply the result by the variance complex... Then take that and use it in the Euler Descartes Formula, AND the Kirchhoff's theory... What do you get? Nothing has changed.

Miller, Vanek to Edmonton for Dub and Yak
- SotaPopinski

I don't like that trade, but it doesn't matter anyway. Miller is a tool, and Edmonton is on his stupid list of teams he thinks he's too good for.
