He's sucked for a "franchise" defensemen. Not for a "defensemen".
This is the part of his criticism that is annoying. Yes his 40 games last year sucked, but look at his numbers for the last 3 years, they have been that of a 2nd or 3rd defensemen

- sbroads24

The numbers have been steadily going downhill and his play on the ice has been unimpressive to say the least. I'm just pointing out his trade value is at an all time low. I could start the argument that if you are getting paid 5.5 Mil you are a "franchise" defenseman but I wont go down that road

And Yakapov wasn't being dressed lately. I think you are over valuing him a bit. Yes first overall pick talent and all that comes with it. Myers contract isn't a bad contract to be trading. 5.5 million when the cap is going to be close to 70 mil again isn't bad. He isn't Luongo he is only 23. Yes it's easy to look at the negatives cause we are terrible but to say Myers straight up wouldn't get us close isn't right IMO.

Myers Stafford for Yakapov and a third since they don't have a second

Too mch salary going there way. Take Hemsky back

He shouldn't be.

I agree as well. I haven't given up on him. But to get us a scoring talent I would move him if that's why it takes

He's not a franchise defnensemen.
His numbers in 2012 (2 years ago) mirror Brent Seabrooks. Who is a top pairing defensemen

That's fine as well. I wasn't thinking salary but it's something that isn't outlandish to think a deal around Myers and Yakapov couldn't be done without going crazy

He could still be that . If we had forwards that scored more goals and had a winning record. we are not even on this topic. The whole team is underachieving.

Co worker said while at the game watching the pee wees during intermission. Said they reminded him of the current Sabres . Need Sabretooth to guide them which way to take the puck.

Kimmo Timmonen makes 6 million. He isn't a franchise D and is 37 years old. Myers contract isn't that bad. The bad part was he made 10 million at 22

I contstantly laugh at Edmonton fans for what they think Yakupov is worth, but I think you are way off here. Trade a potential 50 goal scorer for a ROY winner that has regressed the past 3 years.

Potential is the same word we here are talking about Grigorenko. Yakapov is in the dog house or he would be playing and playing ton of minutes a la Ovechkin. But he isn't so you aren't going to get an arm and a leg for him not matter what. He had a decent 48 games last year but now look at him. I don't see any GM trading the house for him.

He doesn't? Look at their numbers. Also Seabrook gets to play next to a Norris winner, Myers gets Mike Weber or Tallinder.

Its been 8 games or how ever many they have played this year haha. It' not like he has fallen off the wagon here. Where as in Myers case its been 3 years of getting worse.

It's sad we are in the first month of the season and we are discussing this but that's what happens with Darcy in charge.

Again. So has the team and the players put around him. Sort of the opposite you want to do to a young player.

What numbers?? Ok lets take a poll Who would everyone rather have Seabrook or Myers. Uh hhh Seabrook. Seabrook is consistently at the top of the league in blocked shots. Seabrook is consistent, Myers is as inconsistent as they come. 1 great game then 5 terrible games. Seabrook is lightyears ahead of Myers defensively

Here I will show you.

Myers - 22:42 carrer TOI
Myers career PPG- .44
Myers career +/- +4

Seabrook- 22:34 career TOI
Seabrook PPG - .41 PPG
Seabrook career +/- +88

Only real difference is +/- which is half a team stat. I could break it down further for you. Again one plays on a cup team nex to a Norris defender as well

Actually the number of goals against while they are on the ice are incredibly similar too.

Show me some defensive numbers. You don't make team Canada just because you play next to Keith. Seabrook is a stud. He is the complete package. I Can;t believe I'm trying to argue this haha

Hoff and Ott don't get you Yakupov. Oilers are going to want equal value at around the same age. Both players are nice but the Oilers will get a much better offer from other teams than those two.

All discussion involving Yakupov is probably going to include one or more of Pysyk/Ristolainen/Zadorov/Girgensons, pick your poison. They'll probably want a roster player (or players) as well.

I actually think he's been good this year. Not great, but good. Or certainly not as bad as everyone is saying.

He never has been as bad as people have said. That's my entire point and always has been. Not that he's a great player or a star, just good
