signing bryz to a 9-year $51 million dollar deal when there was no other decent option on the market that summer after lava had bob on a leash designed for a hamster, after snider declares "never again" is knee jerk. 100%.

had bob handled himself reasonably well, and gotten them to say the 2nd round, and not been the reason they got swept, do you think snider would have publicly said "Never again"? not a chance. the coach bungled the goaliess, and they gave up on bob. you don't give a guy a 9 year deal to bryz, because you believe in bob.
it was a reaction to the playoff fiasco. knee. jerk.

- hammarby31

Of course it is. trading jvr for schenn after trading for grossmann. signing shelley after his 2 goals. trading for eminger after he played well in playoffs against Flyers.

Ive never been one for the "bag skate" mentality.....

For the most part.

However I think this team needs nothing but bag skates.

- MBFlyerfan

I got trolled hard for that comment a year ago. These players need to be bag skated till the puke.

Knee jerk means occurring quickly and without thought. The playoffs ended in early May, Bryzgalov was acquired a month later. Bobrovsky was traded in late June. It couldn't possibly be considered knee jerk. Reactionary to the goalie issue in the playoffs, certainly. But not knee jerk.

No I'm obviously arguing that the trades of Carter, Richards, JVR, Bobrovsky, and trading for Bryzgalov were not knee jerk. And the definition you posed backs up my assertion.

I get what you were saying... I posted it so that the synonyms were up there.

I think it was impulsive. I think it was a rash decision. I also think it was reckless.

You had a rookie goalie come in and win 28 games (after only starting in 52) and posting solid #'s as well (.915 save % and 2.59 gaa). He had a rough game in the playoffs and boom.. he is removed. That was the knee jerk move.

The lose in the playoffs, and the org makes an impulsive, rash, and reckless decision to change the entire team to get a new goalie(among other reasons).

If that isnt an impulsive, or rash, or reckless move.. than we dont see eye to eye.

The only (by definition) knee jerk move was to bench Bob in favor of the other two AHLers.
