Some days you aren't around and I think you've turned a corner, i have an at the end of goodwill hunting moment like when Ben afleck goes to pick up mat Damon but he's not there. But then the next day you're back.

the Leafs have been built mainly through trades and UFA. there's not a high percentage of that roster that was acquired through the draft. they're also really not the model the Habs are following and were in a completely different situation when MB took over than the Leafs were when Burke took over.
- DoubleDown

True. Not many of the big shots are from the draft.

Kadri, Kulemin, Reimer. Gunnarson.

A lot of the guys we drafted were traded for the new guys we have now. (Schenn for JVR, Frattin+ for Bernier, Stajan+ for Phaneuf)

I don't think the Leafs have done THAT poorly in the draft. To say the Leafs built through the draft is wrong, as you say.

And some of the newer guys in the lineup have impressed:
Leivo, Reilly, Broll

----------

I guess why I was trying to compare the teams is because the depth of the team outside the top six... (and in the LEafs case, in the top six)

Prior to Burke's takeover we had players like Rickard Wallin, Lebda, Jeff Finger with roster spots (o lord)...

I guess the way you complained about players like Ryan White and DD, kinda give me the same impression about how you feel about your 3rd/4th lines

Wonder if Bergevin will pick up Staubitz on waivers.

That guy did the job while he was here...would certainly be more effective than White

so you want to sign an old, soft, concussion-prone player who scored 16 points while playing for Philly last year.

i don't see anything that could go wrong with signing a player of that profile.

I think i'd sooner sign Guillaume Latendresse than claim Brad Staubitz on waivers...
