i think with the right stadium in the right location yeah. but it would be a market where after the 2-3 year honeymoon, the fans will only turn out if the team is competent. you're not going to get 27,000 on a Wednesday night if the team is 32-50.

but you don't get that anywhere. that would not be unique to Montreal. lets say it is the Rays who relocate. that same front office could keep the team very competitive.

But hey, that's the typical Quebecois for you. It's a far too demanding project for us to undertake, so yeah, never gonna happen.

I don`t think it's a question of demanding. I think it`s more a question of expensive in a province that's flat broke and in which only one or two potential owners exist.

i think everyone agrees that financing would need to be almost exclusively private. and you could always go the consortium route. didn't work out so well the last time though.

Currently, I'm not sure it could work, but if the MLB decided to implement a salary cap, Montreal could become a good candidate for a franchise. Kinda like the Nordiques in Quebec.
