touche but you have to admit that the latter is an NHL team and the former is an AHL team...maybe.

i have full faith in AV being able to get the latter to net 3+ goals a night consistently, to be honest. but that falls on kreider actually making plays, stepan regaining his form from last year, richards continuing his play, nash being nash, brassard/zuccarello/pouliot being able to finally bury the puck, and callahan and hagelin being healthy and playing like they do.

obviously for all of that to happen would be asking a lot, but if even half of that happens, we're a much more dangerous team. of course, hank has to keep the puck out of the net for us to have a chance to win.

- rangerdanger94

I do admit that the latter is far more exciting and has a better chance... but I still feel kinda about this roster I just want the Rangers to have their own Crosby haha

rangerdanger94,

but we blamed Torts for losing to the Bruins despite Marc Staal being out, Anton Stralman missing last two games (and being forced to play Hamrlik), Callahan and Hagelin playing with torn labrums and Brad Richards being out of shape all season

using injuries as an excuse only is allowed when you don't like the coach, like i always say

- jimbro83

i personally never used injuries as an excuse against the bruins. the bruins were the better hockey team, and torts got severely outcoached. the bruins adjusted their system and do you remember how many times they'd have odd man rushes straight up the middle of the ice because they found a weakness in how our Dmen played the points? probably like 3 a period lol. and torts never adjusted, that's his fault there.

only reason we won the washington series is because torts adjusted giving the washington Dmen less space at the point to rip shots. but he failed to make the necessary adjustment needed versus boston.

but besides that, the bruins were just the better hockey team overall.

all i'm preaching is that AV has yet to have a fair shake with a healthy roster. he's been given 2 top 6 players and 10 bottom 6 players to work with so far this season.

the 2011-12 Rangers season is arguably the second best Ranger season of all time, Torts should have been at least been given a real season before being ousted

it's so typical of this organization. Fred Shero was gone a year and a half after getting the team to the finals in '79. Ted Sator was gone a year after getting the team to conference finals in '86, Mike Keenan abandoned the organization after winning the Cup, Colin Campbell got canned a year after getting the team to conference finals in 1997.

I didn't want Torts gone, and I am getting more pissed off about it with each passing day

Cause those grow on trees. For the Rangers to have a shot at a player like that, you would have to want the Rangers to dress a team comparable to the Florida Panthers.

I did Jimbo, and I'll fully admit that firing him was wrong. This team looks like one of the worst Rangers teams I've seen. And I grew up in 98-04 era of Rangers hockey.

i was all for torts given another chance, but once he was fired, i was kind of happy that we were gonna get a coach like AV. and a lot of us were.

but at the end of the day, you say torts should be given another shot, and sather says torts lost the entire team. so how do you do that? it's impossible at that point. we'd be in a laviollette-philly situation now.

but then there was that interview before the season when Sather talked about all the injuries the team was battling in the playoffs, oh yeah, I forgot to name Clowe before as well.

Sather is a buffoon, put him out to pasture

No they don't... You have to usually get a player like that in the 1st round of the draft, if not THE very first pick.

And looking at our current state we do have a team comparable to the Florida Panthers... although the Panthers are a better team at the moment.

yea

these guys have it imprinted in their nature to block a shot whenever it's desperation defense time, although for a guy like cally, i'm not sure that's the doing of playing under torts or if he's just a natural born player like that.

i would've been okay with torts having another shot. but i will admit the team did look unimpressed and unmotivated by him last season, and if sather is right that the team tuned him out and didn't want to play for him anymore, and that there could've been a ton more injuries we didn't even hear about caused from everybody blocking shots, then maybe there was no other option. we did really well under torts, but that LA kings win and the capitals win...i've never seen the team dominate the play and look so fluent offensively and so good under torts. the potential with AV is there, we need to consistency.

My views on Torts and if they should have fired him are well known. I will give AV a bit of a pass, but as I wrote, injuries are a minor excuse and crutch. Adapt the system to your talent

When you have three top 3 draft picks on the roster, you should be better than most teams. You want a franchise type of player, than you want the Rangers lose, a lot.

Like the Oilers? Ummm no.

I want a franchise player. End of story. Why would I want the Rangers to lose, other than to blow this average roster to bits?

Lots of other teams want a goalie like Hank, I don't think that means that when a fan says they want a goalie like Hank they want their team to lose so they have a shot at a particular player at the draft, or whatever.

It's just a guy saying "I want a franchise player". That is all.

Sheesh tom you are super sensitive!! Chill out man, you KNOW we win the cup this season, so why all the hate?

That's the only way to get a Crosby, Tavares, Mackinnon, Hall type of player. You ever seen a franchise talent to get to free agency, in their prime? Are you purposely obtuse or just ignoant?

AV is a defensive minded coach, just not to the extreme that torts was.

the rangers are going from 1 extreme to another in terms of defensive systems. going from a zone collapsing shot-blocking system to a staggered man-to-man system that emphasizes clearing everything in front of the goalie out of the way so he can cleanly see the shot are just polar opposites. the team had major breakdowns in the ducks and sharks games. but we played well defensively against the kings, caps, and even the devils.

a lot of the problems stem for hank's inconsistent play. he played like hank against the kings and caps, and like a below-average netminder in the remaining games. it's been no secret that the main key to NYR success is a lights-out hank, no matter the system.

I just don't like the way I can't say "I want a player like this" and then this n00b goes all literal and says "waaah oh you want the team to lose then"

Give me a break.

I want a whole bunch of things for this team, it's just a comment. Poor old tom tom needs to relax is all.

this team isn't talented enough offensively is what you stress most of the time, and i agree. but if you look at the teams that have won the cup recently, they've been unreal defensively and in net (obviously they had offensive talent too), and i'd rather have a really strong defense than a really strong offense, because then you end up like the oilers this season, or the penguins during the playoffs the past couple years, or the wheels fall off on everything like the flyers this season.

teams like phoenix, nashville, and the rangers prior to this season have been subpar offensively but have found success through very strong defense and goaltending.

Wanna provide a blog I posted that in? Again. Explain to me how to get a franchise, game changing talent, other than through the draft? Teams draft these kids and then sign them to long term extensions. They never make it to free agency. Ever

Ovechkin
Malkin
Crosby
Stamkos
Toews
Kane
Hall

All of them drafted and then all of them sign to LONG term deals. So explain to the rest us how to acquire a franchise talent.
