Would love to know how negotiations have gone so far

Sather smoking a cigar, completely ignoring Lundqvist and his agent because he thinks he knows what he is doing.

Treating his own like schmucks while he wines and dines scrub UFAs to clog up the team payroll.

Not bad at all, especially on a game night. Detroit ain't bad when there is something going on -- a concert, a game, et. It's the nights when there aren't many people around that you need to be careful.

When did you move out of the NY Metro area? I seen you post before about going to Rangers games at the Garden when you were younger.

I grew up in Stamford, Connecticut, which is a 45 minute Metro North train ride into the City. My senior year of high school, the first President's Trophy year, I went to 30 plus Rangers games, because a couple of my neighborhood friends had seasons in the blues, and I could always by the seat right next to them from ticketmaster the day of the game. It cost $13 bucks!!!

Went to Michigan undergrad, met my wife there, spent 8 years in DC, and then came back to Michigan once we had kids. Father still lives in Stamford, so I get back occassionally.

Rangers need to score first...and not give up the tying goal 30 seconds later.
- mames11

Sounds perfectly reasonable with Flyers for Rangers. It's what they do, too. Two really struggling teams after a layoff.

I've had it man; there's nobody that deserves more blame than this guy. The two most important Rangers, since 2005-2006, were/are being treated like they never meant anything to the organization.

Jagr got shown the door, without hesitation, after the three excellent years he gave this team. Without him, the Rangers would have been a lottery team after the 05-06 season.

Now, here is Lundqvist, eight seasons of dominant goaltending, and he is being made to sweat out a contract. Now, do I think he deserves an eight year deal, no I don't. But if there was ever an exception to the rule, for this organization, it is him. Without Lundqvist, they don't make the playoffs--probably at all--in the last five seasons.

With the offense as powerful as a pop gun; this man was able to cover up all of the heavy personnel flaws on the big club. Meanwhile, he throws lifelong contracts at the likes of Scott Gomez and Wade Redden. He's clueless, get him the f*ck out of here.

He stumbled over himself July 1, 2007 to sign Drury & Gomez the only time he ever had cap room for a second & we know how that worked out although i did like the Drury signing at that time, Gomez I always hated, never wavered even when he wore a Rag sweater.

I can't lie, I liked the Gomez signing much more than the Drury signing. But that was the true turning point, in a bad way, for this franchise. Until then, Sather actually worked very smartly via free agency, from 2005-2007. He was able to sign Straka, Rozsival, Nylander, Cullen, Shanahan & Malik--say what you want, I liked that guy--for all very reasonable deals.

The structure was looking good and the Rangers were a team on the rise. Then the summer of 2007 hit and it all came crashing down just like that. He lets Nylander go, trades Cullen after he signs two second line centers for first line money.

The laundry list of mistakes has already been well documented and honestly we all know the score here. Under Sather's direction, this team has been close to the promised land once...ONCE. Fourteen years, one conference final appearance.

quite often on blogs, on twitter over the years, I have had quite a few battles with overly negative Ranger fans. It's always been a pet peeve of mine that no matter what the situation, there are those negative Nancy's out there who don't shut the eff up.

This is actually a pessimistic time, that's the reality. There is no way of getting around it. It doesn't make anyone less of a fan to acknowledge it and be worried about it.

What I find really strange is that the whole team absolutely sucks. How many players have played well this year? One or two maybe.

Callahan, Nash and Hagelin haven't played much, or at all.

Brassard has been a ghost.

Stepan has been pedestrian at best.

Zucarello has been terrible.

McDonagh and Girardi haven't been themselves.

Del Zotto has been the bad version.

Hank has been mostly horrible.

Pouilot? Not so good.

There literally is almost no bright spot, with the exception of Brad Richards, and hopefully that lasts.

Funny enough, I really tried to stay positive, early on. That loss on Saturday really sent me over the edge.

Getting mopped up by a really bad Devils team was an enormous eye opener.

Richards play has been the only positive, period. Not a single player otherwise can hold their head up thus far.

Busy for work for a few days and everything goes to pot here...there's the ledge, jump off the bandwago if you want. Those of us who are true blue fans are rightly pissed and want things right, but it's way too early to start blowing things up. Come back to me in a few weeks if the situation hasn't turned or worsened, but can we chill out a bit. It looks bleak, but can we pause the tear down and break down talks, year-long absence speculation and the like before we even get 10 games into the season?

For me, it comes down to this. I think they could get it straightened out with a relatively full lineup.

Without Hagelin, Nash and Callahan for a significant period of time, I think it is going to be really rough sledding.

They are not only playing bad right now, but they are undertalented as a result of injuries.

I agree up to a point, as you have read in my blogs. But to constantly focus on it and have no faith at all that things can get better is what bothers me.

How can a Rangers fan be considered disloyal? I get that you don't like seeing fans quit so early, on the team they root for, but honestly questioning loyalty because we are concerned on how they look is a little ridiculous.

I think the injuries are the root cause of it. We have seen Beukeboom, Lafontaine, Richter, Lindros, Sauer's careers all end because of concussions and considering how much this team invested in Rick Nash, it's very hard to just say "it's early, we gotta give this team some time"

If we hear he is skating and practicing, things will pick up emotionally for everyone

Hank not practicing, dealing with a minor issue, we're done, I've never see a team have to deal with so many negative things.
