Not convinced about our "rebuild"?
Read Adam French's blog on the main page
It talks about this past draft for each team
He mentions 1-3 players for each team,
Except Buffalo...
He mentions SIX!
And that didn't include one of our 2nd round picks (Bailey)
We easily had the best draft this past year
And Darcy has done quite well in the past couple as well

Excluding any current vets, two years from now our "rebuilt" Sabres could look like this...

Foligno-Hodgson-Armia
Girgensons-Grigorenko-Ennis
Catenacci-Larsson-Flynn
Nelson-Kea-Tropp
Zadorov-Ristolainen
McNabb-Myers
McCabe-Pysyk
Ruhwedel
Enroth-Hackett
-Makarov -Lieuwen

Add to that a couple top picks in the next two drafts...
Right now looks like Reinhart (c/rw), and a good shot at McKinnon...
Even if we miss out on McKinnon,
We'll still get a very good player

And don't forget,
We have guys like Bailey, Hurley, Baptiste & Compher all coming as well

No, not ALL these prospects will work out
But Darcy is doing a great job acquiring talent
And he's also been drafting LEADERS
these kids are almost all letter wearers for their teams,
And many are captains or assistants for their Nat'l teams... Which really speaks volumes IMO

I know it's tough to see right now,
But we are headed in a very good direction
And Darcy is a big part of that

Lol.

We'll be lucky if Hodgson/Grigorenko can match Connolly/Roy in terms of production.

Remember when Darcy touted Tim Connolly and Derek Roy as 2 of the top 20 centers in the league?

Looks like he has again aimed low at the all important position. Hodgson can be a nice #2, but where is the #1 pivot this organization has seemingly lacked since LaFontaine left?

I don't see the Sabres matching the talent of other top teams even IF those prospects pan out.

Something else to ponder..if Myers is in the 2nd pairing, what are the Sabres going to have to pay the top pairing blueliners? That contract is going to haunt the Sabres in more ways than one.

A new GM might trade him, or failing that, buy him out. He'll do more harm than good remaining in the organization, getting ice time he hasn't earned and inflating the salary demands of dmen who are clearly better than him.

No, not at all. Salary cap is going up 7-8mil next year, experts expect it to be around 90mil in 3 years.
