(frank) the sharks look tough. I hate that ratface Couture.
- Iggysbff

i was expecting a near double digit goal ramp up in favor of sharks, but cgy is doing alright.

I wasn't, but I did say he needed to pick up his game and fast. he wasn't just shaky to start this year. He was horrendous.
- TheTaoOfSemenko

Yeah he was pretty craptacular at times lol but at times we did him no favors at all like I dunno....the goal the JT got on us the last game

i am 75/25 on klefbom. i still believe he will come around and do well. just need to gain some experience on the smaller ice surface and put his tools to use.

my guess is klefbom takes some real time to develop.

admittedly a little bit homerish, but im super amped on nurse. think he's gonna be the real deal sooner rather than later. he really seemed to have it all. a little bit thin for the type of physical game he plays, but that's just comes with age and the weight room

- hugefemale dog77

Nurse is going to be a beast I can just tell I just hope he isnt rushed and doesnt have the weight of the world on his shoulders when he does come up

Yeah nothing hurts development more then spending a year on the shelf...ill be quite interested to see where he stands next year....our future defensive depth doesnt worry me nearly as much as our depth at forward tho

The play of guys like Khaira, Pitlick and Martindale was and has been a pleasant surprise, to say nothing of Arcobello whom I was sure would get eaten alive and yet has been very solid. Not flashy but it's not as barren as people think.

I don't think he will be. our blueline is finally getting to a point where guys can be developed properly.

Jultz didn't play that bad. I thought he had an ok day today. He played the 2 on 1 today better than Petry did against the Isles.
- Iggysbff

Im not too worried about Jultz im pretty sure it will all come together for him

Slightly different than Schultz, who only has a half season of NHL experience. Duby is older and had a few more years in the league. He should be on a short leash at this point
- ruttager17

Oh I wont argue with that but at the same time we cant hang him out to dry and expect him to save 35-40 shots a game either

No not every game. Eventually he is gonna get scored on, but the goals he let in the first few games of the year, were goals most junior hockey goalies would stop.

Im surprised people still arent sold on Arcobello as of yet....I mean sure he has missed a few golden chances at goals but what did we really expect of him? He has been a point a game player to this point and hasent hurt us much at all...we have certainly have had much worse at center then him

His two-play has been tight and his FO% was very good as I recall.

I think he's way over rated. Playing with Joe, Marleau, Pavelski et al makes hi look better than he is.
- Iggysbff

don't agree at all.

he's the best player on that team. and the new leader it seems. which also happens to be the best team in the league at present. great both ways too.
and his ice time, the vastly diminished mins of marleau and thornton (all very close now) would suggest the coach doesn't really agree either.
I think that series against van last year where he carried them on his back and walked all over the nucks was his coming out party.

he doesn't play with jumbo or little joe either. centers marleau and has more points than him too.

id be willing to place a wager he's on Canada. game?

One thing the Sharks are doing this year better than last year, at least from what I've been able to see early on, is that under pressure they're just putting the puck to open ice and one of their dudes always gets there.

Its something the Canucks did extremely well for a few years, and still do alright but they've lost some speed over the years which makes it a bit trickier. But it makes teams chase a lot, especially defensively.

The best way to stop that is to over clog the centre ice so that they can only put it around the perimeter. But it can run you into problems on deflections and traffic in front if you don't find a way to open the lane when the shot does come. Boston and LA do it really well. St Louis is good at it too but they run a lot more picks in their own end to keep those races to a minimum.
