I still fear that giving up Yak would haunt Edmonton for a long time. He has a shot release that's hard to see in slow motion.
- TheTaoOfSemenko

i'm with you. his release and shot is unforgiving. it's only gonna get stronger and harder.

the guy is signed until he is 38. if edm is giving up yak, young stud comes back.

didn't really even consider the contract length...yeah, that's not ideal

You know many times I think to myself, "(frank) it. Stop trying to make him be Datsyuk and just let him score goals."

good post

perron is exactly the type of guy we need. plays far bigger than his size. unlike ebs, nuge etc, I don't even notice perrons height and smaller stature against some of those hulking defenders. he gives as well as he gets. loves to mix it up and be a douche. all with alot of skill.

petry is our best defender by a mile.

Schultz has amazing offensive instincts. he really does.
but wow he's bad defensively. and kinda soft.
he desperately needs a top pairing guy beside him taking care of that part of the game for him.
ive heard a few people talk about move him to forward, but I don't think he's really a good enough skater to be nearly as effective offensively as he can be from the backend. so much more space and less needed to be effective offensively from the defensive position if you follow my thinking....

smid and grebeshkov..

I was not happy with the Perron trade when it happened but I've changed my tune. We got him for PRV and a 2nd?!? What a steal by MacT. PRV might still be a good player one day, but he's no Perron... cocky agitating Quebby who's good at being irritating/hated

I hadn't given up on Dubey, just needed to see him put a few good games together and then i can start to relax when the other team crosses the blue line. We're not there yet, but his last two games have been much better

Jultz is 6'2''... he needs to throw a hit now and then. He's not Eberle, and you really can't afford to have 100% non-physical Dman on the team, he needs to be able to play in his own end and Jultz blows at that... if he scores 60 points a year, you can accept the D lapses, if he scores 25... not really.

If nobody worked at gas stations, it wouldn't be very convenient for the general population. If nobody were janitors, it wouldn't be very convenient for the general population... If nobody collected garbage, it wouldn't be very convenient for the general population... If nobody worked in grocery stores to stock the shelves, it wouldn't be very convenient for the general population... Quit judging people... They may be smarter, friendlier, and better people overall than anyone you know.

Im not quite ready to throw in the towel on JSchultz being a defensemen just yet.....problem is it just takes DMen longer to develop their overall skills as opposed to forwards

Petry should be ample evidence of that. A well-rounded NHL dgame takes time.

Exactly....Pronger wasnt Pronger when he was first in the league either and its proven that more high pick defensemen flame out then forwards because it is a harder position to play...hopefully Klefbom will be another example of this once he does get the call and same with Nurse

I would hope no one is ready to throw in the towel on him yet, after only 57 career GP.

People were ready to put Duby on the cross after just a few games so who knows what fans are thinking

everyone but Clouts knew that Klefbom would need some AHL time to adapt and get comfortable. Coming off almost a year on the shelf didn't help.

I wasn't, but I did say he needed to pick up his game and fast. he wasn't just shaky to start this year. He was horrendous.

From what i saw, Marincin is waaaay closer than Klef right now. Hell Nurse is closer than Klef too

my guess is klefbom takes some real time to develop.

admittedly a little bit homerish, but im super amped on nurse. think he's gonna be the real deal sooner rather than later. he really seemed to have it all. a little bit thin for the type of physical game he plays, but that's just comes with age and the weight room

Jultz didn't play that bad. I thought he had an ok day today. He played the 2 on 1 today better than Petry did against the Isles.

I think he's way over rated. Playing with Joe, Marleau, Pavelski et al makes hi look better than he is.

Pronger wasn't Pronger
Chara wasn't Chara

It takes guys years. Especially mostly offensive D-men. They have early success, then they are given more responsibilities and they struggle for a while.

Slightly different than Schultz, who only has a half season of NHL experience. Duby is older and had a few more years in the league. He should be on a short leash at this point

Yeah nothing hurts development more then spending a year on the shelf...ill be quite interested to see where he stands next year....our future defensive depth doesnt worry me nearly as much as our depth at forward tho
