i see your point. but depending on the deal, I don't think you worry about that too much. if you can make your team better, you do it.

for argument sake; even if hall was out for a month, and buffalo offered us
myers and ott/foligno tomorrow, I do it immediately.

I hate to give up on yaks, and I don't think im doing that. he'll turn it around a score in bunches again. it's what he does.
but If myers rounded back into form and foligno turned into a true power forward with some scoring, we're a better team

With his contract thats a considerable risk.

IMO no way Sabres do Foligno+Myers. Way too much potential there even if Yak ends up a 40 goal scorer. I could see Ott
- sbroads24

nothing less than pysyk and foligno
or myers and ott
for yaks and n Schultz

gamble for both teams in either scenario

Why is Pysyk so untouchable?
- sbroads24

Besides the great game Zad put on tonight he appears to be our #1 developing d-man.

I dont want to take a step back and use him in a package. My opinion though. Don't trade a bright spot on the blueline. Id rather trade Tyler for his potential to rebound in a package. Pysyk just appears to be a a player who will pan out. Not flashy but his game wont fall its just not his style as a stay at home guy.

I would be ok with either. Honestly I have a strange feeling it's Ehrhoff that's gonna get moved.

huge.

to be perfectly honest I haven't seen a ton of myers in the last season +.
and ive heard lots of bad things. but as ive mentioned previously, I remember watching him absolutely dominate a few years back.
I just don't see how a kid with that size, skating and tool set can just regress so badly

Pysyk IMO will be where he is now in 5 years. Steady, solid, but not a difference maker. Myers has that difference making potential and hes shown that lately. Pysyk also gets sheltered by playing with our best defensemen in Hoff. If Pysyk had to skate with Tallinder or Weber, I doubt he looks as good

Its hard to come up with trades if you dont know what players mean to the team but Foligno and Pysyk make up two very solid pieces going forward. No way they would leave together. Not saying I really understand Yak but those two guys under current management are looking like long time sabres right now. Myers and Ott would help edmonton but ott being in a contract year is tricky.

Remember how good we all thought Gilbert was after he broke Coffey's record?

How has Myers shown that potential lately? He had his strongest game tonight and he played "OK" and for him thats considered great right now from the regression hes seen.

the rumour I read the other day was buffalo was offering myers, but edm wanted ehrhoff.
grain of salt of course, but just sayin.

im certainly interested in Christian as he helps us without question and can be a quality top pairing guy. but he does have some deficiencies in his game.
best case for both players and considering playing styles, I'd prefer myers.

im sure some would laugh me off the thread for that...

No, his strongest game was against the Isles where he played 28 minutes and had the game tying assist

Even last year when he was awful. He had 3 goals, 2 of them game winners another one tied the game late. When he contributes hes a difference maker

kinda missed the boat on that one....I think we were incredibly desperate to call someone our next number 1 defender....and still are.

but for realz, myers ceiling is way higher than gilberts ever was.

Good game by Dubey
Perron is an ass
Petry looked really good
I don't think I've ever seen Eberle actually hit someone
Yak is bad in his own end, kinda glad Ebs kept it instead of passing off
Belov is a turning out to be a very nice pickup; props to the Mac
I'm not sold on Jultz being a solid NHLer; he doesn't really defend.
Hemsky had no fire, but then again most Oilers don't
wtf is Smid doing?
Greb was ok, no complaints, no cheers?
Outshot, outhit and got a lot of bounces and PPs. Overall Edit:a decent game, but a better team would have buried their chances and taken fewer penalties. Maybe puck luck is starting to turn towards the Oil, a bit. Weird (frank)ing goal by Neil... hate seeing a guy like that score.

Yea. In my opinion, he will be a really, really good defensemen by end of year. He's getting better every game. I would be pissed if it was him, but we can't score

I still fear that giving up Yak would haunt Edmonton for a long time. He has a shot release that's hard to see in slow motion.

good post

perron is one of the types of guys we needed. plays far bigger than his size. unlike ebs, nuge etc, I don't even notice perrons height and smaller stature against some of those hulking defenders. he gives as well as he gets. loves to mix it up and be a douche. all with alot of skill.

petry is our best defender by a mile.

Schultz has amazing offensive instincts. he really does.
but wow he's bad defensively. and kinda soft.
he desperately needs a top pairing guy beside him taking care of that part of the game for him.
ive heard a few people talk about move him to forward, but I don't think he's really a good enough skater to be nearly as effective offensively as he can be from the backend. so much more space and less workmanlike effort needed to be effective offensively from the defensive position, if you follow my thinking....

Nice to see Petry really bringing it. Long term project that's finally paying dividends.

Post-1st round picks need development. Who knew?....

I hate fantasy trade scenarios.

...if Foligno is included probs. It would still sting to see yak go elsewhere and score 40 a year.
