Painful game. Mason was the only reason we could even entertain the idea of a tie and 1 point up for grabs in OT.

What can we get for Coburn and Simmonds?

Speaking of Coburn, WTF happened with him behind Mason on that 3rd Pens goal? Did he try to pass it or did it get stolen from him? Either way, I guess it's almost expected at this point with this team.

Bill, who gets scratched when Vinny and Hartnell are healthy? No way should it be Raffl, that kid can skate, he's not afraid to lay the body once in a while, and he's definitely got a nose for the net. And there's no way it can be their leading scorer, one Tye McGinn. So who sits?

Hall and Newberry/Rosehill if you ask me.

As it currently stands, it's obvious that they don't have enough talent to compete.

Their young guys aren't ready to step up. It's obvious that Couturier and Schenn aren't going to develop on the same lines as, say, Giroux did.

The franchise and fans either need to be patient or deal with the notion that trades will happen for veteran guys.

Really, for all the talking/posting that we do -- and we should, because we're fans and this is a message board, not a library -- this post is the most accurate depiction of what we're looking at.

I like talking about the other stuff, going through all the highs and lows, as a fan.

But the above post is simple reality. The young players will either develop or not, the organization will either be patient or not, and they either will or won't make a trade/trades.

I've watched no fewer than 70 games per season for the last 17 years. So I'll be watching, no matter what they do. Might be happy some days, might be sad. But I'll still watch.

I feel like Flyers fans are turning into Eagles fans. A bunch of WIP idiots.

I read a tweet last night mentioning trading Couts, a 1st and either Cousins, Laughton, or Lauridson for Vanek.

Ill be painfully honest.. The one thing this team desperately needs is patience from the org. We have a tonnnn of raw talent with huge potential. Lets be patient! Im ok with a few years of meh hockey if it will allow us to build our team from the ground up.

Lets take a look at the top 10 teams in the NHL right now, and how many times they made the playoffs in the past ten years...

SJ-9/10 years
Col-5/10 years
Pitt-7/10 years
Det-10/10 years
Tor- 1/10
Ana- 7/10 years
Stl-5/10
Mtl-7/10 years
Tb-5/10 years
Chi- 5/10 years

The Flyers? 8/10

8 of those 10 have had multiple losing seasons in the past 10 years... Be smart. Be patient. Dont try to win it all every year AT ALL COSTS. Let your team mold itself. Draft well.

Hall might get waived. He was kept for his faceoff prowess, but Couturier seems to have gotten a lot better on faceoffs. When Vinny returns, the team had 3 solid faceoff men without Hall.

I'm a realist... And I want the team to win, do not enjoy cracking on this team... If this continues I won't be here trolling because last night I started to get disgusted.

As for bryzgalov ... His first year he showed me something's that afforded my faith in him but as time went on he have me nothing so... This of you who wre skeptical were right however I felt not all the problems and goals were his fault as is the case with mason ... But again bryzgalov became his own worst enemy here...

i want them to win too...just don't agree w/ the tack they've taken the last several yrs and now they're lost.

I agree. But I think he will have value at the TDL as a faceoff specialist/PK player. I'd rather not waive him if it's not necessary as they may lose him.

Steve Mason: “We were not happy with our first two periods of play. My opinion, and I think everyone else’s opinion, is we played terrible hockey. You are not going to win hockey games like that. I thought the guys came out with a lot more emotion in the third period and that’s the way we need to play. If we can start playing like that then we will start being more successful than we are.”

this team sucks (reality check) everyone on team is over valued, nobody wants the dam puck, g used to want the puck and do things with it, not no mo, hes even lazy on the pp, sits on the wall waiting for thepuck so 2 pkillers can swoop on him, hartnell and g had there best years when jagr was on there line and was does homer do lets him walk.

cooty and schenn are years waay from being anything if they ever do, im serious this team needs gutted, nmc need to be waived

as much as i got sick of watching richards and carter do the same stupid stuff over and over its nothing compared to what we watch now

g has not done a dam thing since lavvy called him the best player in the world and people want to speculate that hes hurt or something, what for 2 years now, the guy needs a real threat on the wing like jagr was to open the ice up

I doubt it. I don't think anyone will give up anything or him. He's been waived several times.

Assuming this disappoitning trend continues, I would like to see the team trade some defenseman like Coburn, Grossmann and Timo if he wants at the TDL.

I agree with most of this, except that a lot of veterans have NMCs (Hartnell, Vinny), modified NTCs (Coburn, Grossmann), or are not very attractive (Streit). I think we're going to have them around a long, long time.

We absolutely need a new culture. We need patience and belief from the top of the org.

I like Homer. But watching him over the past few years.. It seems as though he never has faith in his own moves. Trading players after signing them to long contracts. Trading guys after they dont get their careers off to a blazing start. Saying one thing and doing another. We need to have a stable, confident and patient leader at the top. We dont have that.

- jak521

a plan and having patience. they are connected. the flyers don't seem to be able to grasp this.

Well, we'll see. He's nothing special, but he is a good 13th forward at least.

I would traded Kimmo if he wanted to because he deserves a Cup as much as anyone else in the league.

Gotta save up for the next buyout. He's already paying Laviolette, Bryz, & Briere to not play for/coach the team.

Just in terms of moving money, I think the Flyers could trade Grossmann and Coburn. They may be able to get a little value for Coburn, but probably not much for Grossmann.

If Kimmo went to a team where he could slide in as a 4th dman, he could provide a lot. I think the Flyers need too much from him at this point.

I agreed with the "tact" to a certain degree... But yes it has failed and they are indeed lost. Case in point... This is a tough pill to swallow but the pronger trade really was a disaster.
Yes we had that wonderful run but look what's happened since... That trade is the epitome of this front office... Trading away the future for short term gain and now the chickens have come home to roost. Looking at the players we have traded away and what we have now is troubling. They keep trying to win now...
They're philosophy is akin to picking up a prostitute... Quick and easy but never white satisfied and sometimes leaves you with herpes and in this case as this season is going, we definitely have the herpes.

i dont think it si much the tallent level as i do wrong combinations .. giroux shouldn't be the captain... i think Coot needs to be given the chance in a offensive role... rosehill should never dress again and kimmo should be moved to the 3rd line D.. i am sorry but he has looked terrible this year... maybe giroux should be moved to 2nd line and let Vinny have the top spot for awhile
- flyer186

again someone complains about a 4th line player. LOL The issues have nothing to do with the Rinaldo's, Rosehill's and Hall's of the team.

Is it even worth it though? I'd trade Grossmann, but why give up Coburn if you're at least not going to get the same value in return? I get that the team needs to something, either internally or via trade, but Holmgren cannot go into his "trade-for-the-sake-of-trading" mode.

Over the next 6 days can they trade the entire team? Well not Mason. At this point I don't care who gets traded. Trade for some heart. I can deal with a team that isn't that good, but I can't deal with a team that doesn't try and has no heart. Even Rinaldo seemed flat which you never see. The should have been forced to watch that game again last before they were allowed to leave, let them see the sh*# we had to watch.

It was like watching men vs boys out there. The Pens completely out classed them. Over the next 6 days It's time for the fans to re-evaluate if we want to continue watching this joke on ice.

you know, as much as people like to pick on Rinaldo and the people who like Rinaldo saying all he does is hit and nothing else, fact is the kid along with McGinn, Raffl, and even Schenn, Talbot and Couturier play hard. this team can't score as it stands so personally I would give ice time to the players who bust it. I know its a viscious circle....lack of confidence leads to hesitation, trying to force bad passes being too perfect, etc but the leaders on this team have to play hard and lead. Say what you want about Crosby but its not talent alone that makes him one of the leagues elite players. He works his ass off

People may call me crazy, but if we're going to move some people, let's move pieces we're going to get a solid return on. I honestly think Coburn + Couts could net us something decent that we need.
