I wonder if they start believing all these cliches they spit out over and over. I guess if they do, it's up to the coach to bring them back to reality, but the players have to actually believe it to act on it.

I wonder if Berube was the right guy for he job. Nothing against his beliefs or system or ability, just wondering if it would have been better to bring in a fresh face that the players weren't used to.

Mason was pretty amazing. He was by far your best player last night.

Just like every other game he's started. He's going to be worn out by January if the team doesn't start supporting him.

This week long break is a great time to change coaches, but they already did that.. I really hope Vinny is back and inspired on Thursday. Need a spark!
- funmaster18

the good thing about the week long break is that it's almost like a mini training camp for the coach he has a good 5 days to work on his system .. it hard to institute a new system when you play back to backs and 3 in 4 ... this gives him the opportunity to work on the things that need to be corrected with out having to prepare for the next team....I only hope it helps

Silver lining, I get it

But seriously, if the rangers game is more of the same then I don't know what else the coach can do. It's on the players right now. System or not the players are losing the games on their own accord.

Agree again. I'll give him a chance and all that, and he may very well be a good coach, but if they had tuned out Laviolette, why wouldn't they have also tuned out the assistants?

That game was crazy disturbing. Berube has done nothing to breathe life into them. You look real bad when your talent and compete level sucks

i agree and it will be a surprise if some sort of trade is not made this week ... i think the writing is on the wall .... now i no a trade may not be what this team needs but they are going to go into panic mode soon and stupid things get done in panic mode

i dont think it si much the tallent level as i do wrong combinations .. giroux shouldn't be the captain... i think Coot needs to be given the chance in a offensive role... rosehill should never dress again and kimmo should be moved to the 3rd line D.. i am sorry but he has looked terrible this year... maybe giroux should be moved to 2nd line and let Vinny have the top spot for awhile

That's my worry. It's like the parents go out and now the big sister or brother is in charge. Think they will listen better? Obviously the message should have been good enough once the coach was fired that they didn't need a new face to get them in line, but it's gotta be a little awkward losing Lavi and now listening to chief who has been there a long time as an assistant.

We will see. Just think if we are firing coaches it would have been nice for a full house cleaning behind the bench. But that would require a culture change.

I hope you're wrong about a panic move, but it's a golden opportunity for homer to make one. I still believe we need to see more of the team with a complete roster. Vinny wasn't brought in as a support player, he was brought in to be a dynamic number 2 center. With only playing 2 preseason games and a couple regular season, he's had zero time to dig in and make his mark. I think we need to let him do that before we push the red button.

Holmgren needs to go before he makes any rash moves. The team needs to look to the future since they have already managed to ruin this season, and that future shouldn't include Homer as GM.

All indications to me from what I've seen so far is that Berube is on the Couturier train and he's going to let it ride a little bit. I think he needs meaningful minutes to continue to develop and even though he's had some mistakes, I actually like why I see from him. I see some more confidence than last year.

are you guys noticing a lack of effort from the nhl regulars? i find it strange that players can come from the AHL and play better than the regulars

Yea I think berube aside from mason has been the only bright spot... This is bad and I'm not holding out hope until the whole front office is cleaned out. Thanks, Ed it's been more than great but it's time to go.

I was curious about that. In the past the PP has been strong, so i guess that's that's the reasoning. It's interesting, is Laviolette an Mullen lose the team or is the team just not competing or playing smart? How does the PP go dry suddenly with the same players? Did Mullen forget how to coach the PP that had been so successful. I'm seeing failure to succeed in a lot of aspects of the game that lead me to believe Laviolette was not as much to blame as I had thought.
