There is no doubt in my mind. If we assembled a front office of the top hockebuzzers in here. GM, asst, a whole scouting department. Everyone takes a month seminar on the ins and outs of the job. If there is no Ed snider lurking over this group there is no question in my mind a better team will be built.

No, but wasn't there supposed to be a firm experienced group of players whose responsibility it was to wean these guys in and show them by example the correct way to play?

If the kids were expected to carry this team, whooo boy!

- 77rams

that's a different subject than the one my post was in response to, but yes i would assume a team would plan to have vets that can help the kids. doesn't mean they'll magically develop in two years otherwise trade them all for younger players who don't finish developing in two years so then trade them because the fans think they should develop faster and so on and so on

I fully expected B. Schenn to have surpassed Mario Lemieux's career point totals by this point. He needs to go, him and that Coutier guy. WE NEED SOMEONE WHO HITS!

If you took the 'C' and the 'A's off the uniforms and asked me to identify those whom I believed were the leaders of this team, I honestly could not. There is no on ice leadership presence on this team as it's presently constructed.

Not only was this team constructed without any viable leadership, worse, it also has no character. And that's gut wrenching.

If I drank, I'd consider turning off the lights, sitting down with a bottle of scotch, and just watch this into the wee hours of the morning.

Good point. Who would you expect to be leading this team this Season?
- MJL

After watching them play last season and during the pre-season?

Good question.

Jay Rosehill.

For all of the jibber jabber about him before the season started, he seems like a key piece.

Yes. Lecavalier was playing pretty well. The only one who likes Streit less than me is Mr. Tomahawk.
- PLindbergh31

I actually can live with the streit signing. 4/ 5 mil as cap will go up. I just csnt for the life of me understand how he's not on 1st pp unit. He's much better than kimmo at this stage. Why did we bring him in? He's not going to play more than around 15 min a game ( which is fine) but I'd like to see around 5 of those minutes on the pp. Seems like a waste. And if not going to use him why bring him in for the role they are using him in. Seems stupid to me

He looked energized by being on the #1 PP in the third.
Voracek was at the top of the umbrella and Streit was on the half boards where Jake is usually. Streit made some good plays in there I thought, last night.

Still at a loss to explain or even rationalize what happened in the second period.

"Onto the rumors. I continue to hear more and more regarding Philadelphia and Winnipeg talking. Names like Byfuglien, Coburn, Voracek, and Little keep coming up....among some prospects...

One source swears that if these two teams make a deal "It won't be a small deal" and history in Philly could bare that out. When things go far south the Flyers are prone to multi-player deals..."

the young players haven't all developed. were they all supposed to emerge from a cocoon in two years and be perfect?
- -davies-

To answer your question. No. I don't think anyone expected perfection. But not regression either. I haven't given up on the young players yet. Maybe if one of them starts to pick it up it will be contagious.

Question for fans:
If the Flyers were guaranteed to win a Cup, but it would consist partially of a few guys like Avery, Barnaby, and Kasparitis, would you be upset?

This team is struggling offensively. Last Season Giroux was a point a game player. and Voracek had 46 points in 48 games I beleive.

He's going to play signficantly more the 15 minutes a game. Streit is averaging 20:04 per game, and that's not likely to change much.
