No. Disagree if you want, move on with your life. But I don't provide answers to your questions, on demand.
- AllInForFlyers

Your choice. But the question is really rhetorical and really doesn't need an answer from you. Asking the question itself makes the point that needed to be made.

My comment had nothing to do with the "system" Berube wants to run. IOt has everything to do with Berube's effect on the effort or lack thereof the team has given since taking over.

Can you tell a difference since he took over? I can't.

Your playing your biggest rival, at home, being 1-6 and your effort is being compared to the talent of an ECHL team by a very fair hockey guy.

So, Tyler Myers and Vanek for Read, Mez, Laughton, and a pick?
- section32

Darcy Regier just sprayed coke all over his keyboard...

Tyler Myers and Ville Leino for Coburn, Read, Ghost and a top-40 pick might do it.

I'd rather try to pry E Johnson out of Colorado for that package.

With each passing game, it's a small sample size still... Pretty soon 8 games turn into 16, 16 turn into 32 and so forth.

Which game will L. Schenn graduate from being the teams 6th dman? I know the answer. When Lauridsen and Manning are in the lineup a few weeks from now.

- PLindbergh31

Do you want to discuss Couturier or L. Schenn? How come whenever a valid point is brought up to refute a point you made, you try and change the subject? If you want to judge what Season was Couturier's best, how can you compare the current Season to Seasons in the past that are completed? The improvements and maturity in Couturier's game is obvious.

And according to some on here, Read's name belonged in there as well. Will update as needed.

Kronwall is a guy who plays with some edge, and has delivered some very questionable hits. The one on Voracek for example.

F him. Just desserts.

I am at the point where I think they almost need to rebuild the entire blue line.

Well luckily they already have the top pairing defensive defenseman. Should be easy to fill in around him.

It's becasue it has to be realized why they're bad. Overall they don't have bad players. They're just a bad team right now. For a variety of reasons. And a lot of players are playing well under their capabilities.
- MJL

Other side of that coin is that this team has been bad for parts of two seasons now. Moreover, the last time they were good, they had a whole host of guys who played over their heads (Hartsy, Talbot, maybe G) and key contributors from that squad are long gone (Jagr, Carle).

It's possible that Voracek's production from the lockout season might have been a mirage, too.

Teamwork is bad... but I can't say with any certainty that this team should be better on paper right now. This team has skill, but a lot of it is inconsistent and undeveloped.

I dont think he has the skating/stick skills that come along with that. The Adam Foote comparisons would be accurate if he could develop those two skills a bit. It very rare to find a top pairing defensive d-man. IMO, the rarest skill set in the NHL.

Name 3 top pairing defensive d-men....

- jak521

Plenty of top pair defensive defenseman weren't great skaters. I think it's improving his positioning, and his reading and anticipation of plays is what is going to determine if he gets to that point. He has the physical skills.

we've mastered the art of acquiring the 6-7 dman, so that's a start

If Snider and Holmgren delivered a flaming bag of dogpoop to your doorstep, you would argue that it was nice of them to provide you with fertilizer.

What does a system have to do with a team giving maximum effort for 60 minutes? This team quit, and went through the motions the entire second period last night.

That is with their biggest rivals in the building, on the heels of firing the coach. Absolutely unacceptable.

Like it or not, this team is the laughing stock of the NHL at this point.

- PLindbergh31

While I don't agree with the discription of being the laughing stock of the NHL. The level of effort and compete they gave in the 2nd period was disturbing.

L. Schenn silly. You know the guy playing 12 minutes a game. He's going to play a game of leapfrog, before you know it he will be a top pairing guy.

Sadly, the days where guys like Adam Foote and Hatcher could control a game defensively are over... no more clutch and grab, no more interference, no more wanton clearing of the porch... it's got to be done w/ skating, positioning and good sticks now... and that just happens to fall into the skill set of guys who aren't one-dimensional.
