Bad hit, but kill me for saying this: I think Kronwall put himself in a bad spot when he stopped and tried to turn at the last second. I think Mcleod thought he was going to continue on and went to hit him on that assumption.
- MBFlyerfan

Kronwall certainly didn't help himself, that's for sure.

Just in terms of moving money, I think the Flyers could trade Grossmann and Coburn. They may be able to get a little value for Coburn, but probably not much for Grossmann.
- PhillySportsGuy

I think Grossmann is pretty underrated by many. His health remains a concern, but when he's out there, he's hitting, blocking shots, making good basic first passes, zone keeps, getting shots toward the net etc., and he's not slow for his size. He's only what, 28? He's a keeper imo.

Holmgren needs to go before he makes any rash moves. The team needs to look to the future since they have already managed to ruin this season, and that future shouldn't include Homer as GM.
- Feanor

The future is in the younger players and prospects, which Holmgren has brought in...so he should be fired so another GM can reap what has been sown? I don't get it.

Kronwall is a guy who plays with some edge, and has delivered some very questionable hits. The one on Voracek for example.

F him. Just desserts.

Is it even worth it though? I'd trade Grossmann, but why give up Coburn if you're at least not going to get the same value in return? I get that the team needs to something, either internally or via trade, but Holmgren cannot go into his "trade-for-the-sake-of-trading" mode.
- Flyers_V88

I feel that Grossmann is the better player at this point...and they're basically the same age.

It remains to be seen if Holmgren will have the necessary patience to stick with those young kids and the team's record, coupled with the Chairman's impatience, may put him out of a job before they develop.

I'm not saying it's right. I'm just sayin'.

And can we finally admit read is a dud. Don't tell me he's versatile. He does squat on 3rd line 2nd line or 1st line. League figured him out. Yes he's decent d wise and has a little offense at times but he's not worth 4 mil. You can put McGinn on those lines too for less.

His upper body never shows anything but the numbers to McLeod... his legs/skates turn to stop at the last minute, but his upper body is always facing the end boards.

Yeah Nonis is largely just reaping what Burke has sown...I'd rather see Homer stick around, and be patient with what he has.

Yup, Grossmann is solid. And if we could score more than 1 goal per game, maybe our D and goalie wouldn't need to worry about being perfect. And let's face it, our D is rarely going to be perfect, but they've kept us in most games.

Still, after last night, if I can package Coburn and Simmonds for a player that can help this team, I do it in a heartbeat.

Burke's last transaction as Leafs GM was really a heist.

Good thing he's not getting paid $4m then.

Read still has a great shot (he had a potential game winner against Vancouver ring off the bar) and is sound defensively. I'm not going to judge individual players by production when the entire team is in the worst offensive funk anyone can remember.

I'd trade him for a younger productive player in a heartbeat, though. He's already 27-28... there might not be much, if any, upside there.

UMm read just signed extention. He hit post??? Whopty doo! How many fanned shots has he had the last 3 games. Yeah he's decent on d so is talbot hall are they making 4 mil? Point is if you're rebuilding you don't sign read for 4 mil.

Read's extension doesn't pay him $4m a year, either.

For all of Coburn's physical tools, he's got the hockey IQ of a turnip.

Exactly what I said last year. He'd be a good fit on a cup team or contender but not us. Hell I'd psckage him with others for picks St this point.

you know, as much as people like to pick on Rinaldo and the people who like Rinaldo saying all he does is hit and nothing else, fact is the kid along with McGinn, Raffl, and even Schenn, Talbot and Couturier play hard. this team can't score as it stands so personally I would give ice time to the players who bust it. I know its a viscious circle....lack of confidence leads to hesitation, trying to force bad passes being too perfect, etc but the leaders on this team have to play hard and lead. Say what you want about Crosby but its not talent alone that makes him one of the leagues elite players. He works his ass off

My bad... Scratch criticism of read. He's worth the 3.7 but not 4 mil cause that's such a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge difference. I can live with 4 fanned on shots a game ( 1 for each line he plays on) for saving 300 hundred grand
