Carter and Richards are very good players and they were good here and I appreciate everything they did while here. In LA they aren't the main cogs but more the support behind guys like Brown and Kopitar. in Philly they were the main guys. I still have zero problem with those moves.
- nastyflyergirl

what will it take to be down on these moves, these guys shooting pucks into their own net? every other team in the nhl likes the trades too as they have turned the flyers into the worst team in the league.

Well they're not support guys in LA. They're top players that play top minutes in all situations. That they're support guys seems to be the mantra that some use to justify the trades. But they don't need to be justified. As you said numerous times, when you make those trades, you do so realizing that you are taking a step back in the short term, to hopefully be better in the long run. And that it takes time. I was happy with the trades, and still am. Most Flyers fans were when the deals were made. Now were going to start reading about some minds have changed.

i think we were prepared for taking a step back but i don' think this is "taking a step back". i think this is falling out of a 747 at 40,000 feet and hitting every other plane in the sky on the way down.

when I say support I don't mean third and 4th line guys, etc. Its not meant as a slap. I just mean the main attention in LA has always been Kopitar and brown and adding guys like Carter and Richards made them that much better. Carter and Richards were those guys in Philly.

Kimmo falling over at the blue line to set up their first goal was sad. He's done.

BSchenn missing a wide open net sums up this teams offense.

- Feanor

Timonen was hooked by Kobasew, and was flat-footed and surrounded as soon as he got the puck. There were three failed clears before that (including one by Timonen), which were far more egregious.

Right now these guys are the laughing stocks of the NHL. The coach has already been fired, they are playing their biggest rivals at home, how is it possible for these guys to go through the motions the entire second period? It's embarrassing.
- PLindbergh31

That second period was a disgrace.

They're those same guys in LA. They're top line, top minute, all situation players in LA. But that's regardless. I'm happy with the trades. That's not the issue with this current team.

as I said, when they traded frick and frack, the rebuild began. carter and Richards were and are in their prime. the players received in the move are not yet there. People forget Voracek had more points than Carter last yr. Simmonds actually had the same as Richards. then factor in Couturier and Schenn. Like I said, carter and Richards are in their prime.

Just got back from the game and I'm honestly at a loss for words. This may be the worst flyers team I've ever seen. There are a lot of issues... Stay thirsty my friends and go Flyers.

my issue w/ the moves and what you properly called a rebuild, is that homer didn't acquire a certain level dman that matched the career arc of the young forwards. that led to the JVR trade, which i never liked...if they had drafted hamilton, things would have made more sense...i understand the pronger excuses, but they were way too dependent on 2 guys that were on the decline. it's getting old now anyway.

BS....Those guys are still here you don't have the Bryz fiasco and G isn't having to shoulder the load or captaincy which he obviously cant handle right now.

Incredibly frustrating game. Whiff shots, bad passes, and 1 (frank)ing goal again.

Still, once again, they could have pulled out a win, primarily because of the play of Mason and no thanks to any other player on that team.

I take offers for a package of Coburn and Simmonds. See what we can get.

I bring up Lauridsen and Alt for this 6 day period between games and let them fight for a spot. Streit should probably watch the next game from the press box.

When Vinny then Hartnell come back into the lineup, I don't know who gets benched, but it better not be Raffl and McGinn.

Incredibly annoying game.

Giroux handled the load in previous seasons after the trades.

I liked adding schenn but hated that it was at the expense of JVR.

You guys are acting like Richards and Carter were traded last year. Carter and Richards have been gone for almost 3 years. The step back was supposed to be the year following the trade. We should be on the upswing, instead the Flyers are getting worse every year.

You can't still be expecting to take more "steps back" from a 3 year old trade.

I have no problem with Streit. Don't see his play as an issue. But I do see a problem when Raffl and McGinn are two of your best players.

They absolutely should be on an upswing. Instead of taking a step back. But there seems to be a lot of issues at work.

jack johnson was available wasn't he? he's a perennial all star compared to what we're rolling out now. and let's not forget the JVR/carle fiasco...someday you'll be forced to admit it

Streit is average in his own end, but I think we all knew that already. The problem I have is he's not even remotely getting the job done in the offensive zone. Granted, the entire team looks pretty friggin bad there, but that's supposed to be his specialty.

I bench Simmonds and Read before I send Raffl and McGinn back down to the AHL. Read is having a real problem just getting a puck to the net, he's either missing it altogether or the puck is getting blocked. And Simmonds just looks like the game is way too fast for him. I'm not sure what happened to him, but he really doesn't look like he belongs in the NHL this year.
