That they literally didn't show up in the 2nd is most disturbing. That can't happen with a team that is struggling as bad as they are. - MJL
Once they get rid of Laviolette the compete level is going to go through the roof. |

the best thing about this for me, is i have virtually zero emotion about it. just isn't affecting me. 5 years ago, i'd be breaking things. |

Coburn and L Schenn have to go...I would try to get at least 2nd round picks for them since the draft is in Philly |

it's just scratching the surface, but it would sure help if they could get more point shots thru...and remember, lavi was 2-8 to start his tenure, wasn't he? - isaiah520
More pucks to the net with traffic would surely help. It seems as though either point shots are blocked, or when they do get through. The goalie has a clear view.

I think Vanek is a really good goal scorer and of course he would be a nice pickup for any team but I just don't see him being what this team needs in the long run. it would be just yet again another bandaid. the moment they moved Carter and Richards for Simmonds, schenn, voracek and picks (Couturier and COusins) a rebuild was started regardless whether the Flyers want to call it that. Has this team taken a step(s) back? Yes but its going to take some time and patience and the last thing I want to see is another blowing up. a rebuild on the rebuild. - nastyflyergirl
Clearly it's not working... It's not the loosing that bothers me it's how bad they are getting out played. I wouldn't call for a rebuild but I think it's time to give hextal a crack at this... |

The coaching change has done nothing. Granted you have to give the new guy time to put his system in, but it's the same lack of discipline crap, as well as not competing for 60 minutes.
When this roster gets blown up, it will be apparent it had nothing to do with who the coach was. |

ok, i can go with that. If the team was going to change direction, then last year was the year to trade off older non returning assets. I'm all for the stay the course mode for a while. |

There certainly is still some of the same issues. But I disagree that it has done nothing. Some things have gotten better, but obviously not enough. Until this team comes out and shows a will to win, and a refusing to get outworked. The system change isn't going to drastically change anything in terms of wins and losses. Which in the big picture, is all that really counts.

I loved what Berube said. Straight forward simple talk without throwing his players under the bus directly. They frigging got lazy and stupid at times, which is 100% true. The whole 2nd period tonight! |

Kimmo falling over at the blue line to set up their first goal was sad. He's done.
BSchenn missing a wide open net sums up this teams offense. |

suck it hater - Winning
Would gladly take Carter, JVR and Richie right now.....Sure as hell would be a better team. Homer is done imo, he has done good for this organization but his time is up. I know this board hates a lot on Carter but he is exactly what the Flyers need....a goal scorer. JVR for Luke trade is downright terrible right now its embarrassing. This team is an embarrassment to all Flyer fans.
I get what Homer was trying to do but it was a bad move at the time and looks even worse now. He traded away 3 franchise pieces that were signed to very reasonable deals for moderate returns. Whats scary is if it wasnt for Mason these games wouldnt be anywhere close to what they have been. I will obviously continue to support the team but pretty bummed right now as Im sure everyone else is. |

Of course I'm not expecting Berube to be a miracle worker. Hell, I don't even know if the guy can be a credible coach. He has no track at the NHL level.
Competing for 60 minutes should be a given. These are pro athletes making millions of dollars. If you don't want to compete, find a new profession.

Carter and Richards are very good players and they were good here and I appreciate everything they did while here. In LA they aren't the main cogs but more the support behind guys like Brown and Kopitar. in Philly they were the main guys. I still have zero problem with those moves. |

Well they're not support guys in LA. They're top players that play top minutes in all situations. That they're support guys seems to be the mantra that some use to justify the trades. But they don't need to be justified. As you said numerous times, when you make those trades, you do so realizing that you are taking a step back in the short term, to hopefully be better in the long run. And that it takes time. I was happy with the trades, and still am. Most Flyers fans were when the deals were made. Now were going to start reading about some minds have changed.

Right now these guys are the laughing stocks of the NHL. The coach has already been fired, they are playing their biggest rivals at home, how is it possible for these guys to go through the motions the entire second period? It's embarrassing. |

it will certainly be interesting to see what they do as the season moves on and if things don't improve I'd certainly listen to all offers on any of the veteran players. |
